The Olympics
Opening Ceremony ok....not a patch on London or Vancouver ...still a few hours to go.
USA uniform was u.g.l.y
But all I can say is what the hell were the Irish, Germans and Ukrainians thinking? Acid trip?
Great Britain, Monaco and Chinese Taipei very stylish ...France disappointing.
Estonia pretty good and Japan and Russia.
Cutest guy in the Chile delegation. Hubba Hubba.
Putin still sexy but has had a face lift....perhaps to look younger for his hot totty.
As regards the men's hockey all I can say is BRING IT CANADA.
My only Russian is Nyet, caviar, Sputnik and VODKA!
Let the games begin!

Re: The Olympics
So far its been pretty good - the team ice skating competition has been wow....the Russians are nailing it....15 year Yulia is awesome....and Pluschenko - well wow! Gracie for the US was so elegant. Cant wait for the individual medals and the men's speed skating tomorrow.
The slope style and men's downhill......how the hell do they do it? I get sick just watching it....that downhill course is a monster.

Re: The Olympics
I think it has been fantastic so far - opening ceremony was great - parts of the London one were just embarrassing - far too political.
And that's the problem with this one - not from the Russians, but from (I've only seen) the UK media - turning the whole thing in to some political thing instead of celebrating the Games.
They are just utterly embarrassing and so obsessed with liberalism. The athletes deserve so much better!

Re: The Olympics
Good morning Folks.
Yes,got to agree. So far the games have been brilliant & good news for British girl who won the first ever GB medal in snow boarding.
There's bound to be a few glitches at such a large scale event & it's good to see that the Russians have easily overcome the western racist anti Russian propaganda.
And this silly gay thing has been kicked into touch as well.
Good luck to the American team who I think are in the lead.

Re: The Olympics
I agree gentlemen ...the commentators should just shut the f*** up and let us watch the games ....they have been downright gormless In some of their commentary.
We all know that Russia and the former USSR have had their difficulties and have had/currently have murderous repressive regimes but if you think anyone needs to be told over and over that the opening ceremonies were being whitewashed and you shouldn't learn history from them - well DUH. Way to go Sherlock. Tell me something I didn't know.
Great race for Jenny Jones - fabulous.
Will say the 2nd half of opening ceremonies was much much better than the first.....the ballet part was beautiful and I liked how the brought in St Basil's and all the traditional Russian colours.....the Troika was stunning as were the graphics.
Bumped up above Beijing and Canada but still have London as my favourite.

Re: The Olympics
Pleschenko withdrew - bummer. Such a sad way to end his career but evegeni thank you.
Kudos to Abbott for getting back up and finishing whilst in extreme pain.
Hanyu was amazing. 101.45? Whoa.
But my new favourite is Jason Brown - skating to Prince? Duuuuuuudddeeee you rock. Plus his enthusiasm and smile just melt my heart.
And my goodness aren't those 3 boys from the USA ski slopestyle cute as buttons? As well as awesome for sweeping the podium.....harlaut made me smile with his dreadlocks and his baggy pants....the guy has class.

Re: The Olympics
I can't get with the Olympics, ever since the cancelled women's softball in the summer games.
There's really nothing American about the Olympic games. Only the downhill races are truly exciting. Skating...meh. Ice dancing = women lifting their legs and showing their crotches. Curling...gimme a break.
Gotta say it shortens the morning news. As soon as they go to the Olympics, I switch away.

HEAR, HEAR, I'm still angry about that.
Re: The Olympics
Really, I lov woman's softball. It may only be college, but it's a great team sport.
I got interested when I taught at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Arizona and UCLA have like 20 of the 30-or-so championships. Remember Jenny Finch?

Re: The Olympics
Haven't paid much attention to the Olympics so far this time but I did see the girl win the Gold medal for Great Britain on the Slider track about an hour ago. She was fair away with herself and so she should be. Well done lass.
Saw Eddie the Eagle on the tele the other day and he said he still likes a jump.
