Re: Olympics - ouch!
I cant watch.
I saw a young gymnast who was performing her floor exercise misjudge a high tumbling somersault the other night, she landed on the back of her neck, that was bad enough.
Luckily she was OK.

OK...I watched, it made me feel sick, so I shouted my OH in so he could watch (misery loves company) I kept misjudging the rewind though and so saw it about 4 times before I managed to get it right.
Poor man, I hope they managed to fix his leg.

Good on him!
I wish him well and a full and speedy recovery!
He is young and fit and (otherwise) extremely healthy so I'm sure he will mend/heal very quickly and well... and it is said that when a broken bone heals, it becomes stronger than it was before the break!
I reckon the leg bone was likely to have been in a weakened state anyway for it to break like that... could have already had tiny stress fractures running through it from his prior intensive training and practice routine and gone unnoticed as any pain may have been put down to muscle aches and strains etc...
I know someone who used to do a lot of running... and for ages she had pains in thighs, particularly after runs... she put it down to muscle aches and carried on running 3-4 times a week... until she was out running one day and one of her legs broke... turns out she had tiny stress fractures running through both legs because of the running and this was cause of the big leg break!

Hello T M. Correct!!! Years ago I looked at the leg injury of Henrik Larson, a brilliant Swedish national who played for Barca and the domestic leagues of Scotland and England. HORRIBLE, I regretted it ! Apparently there was an audible sickening crunch too. Since then I know there have been similar injuries in various sports but I don't have the stomach to look!
