On YouTube when watching American politics I often stumble across really extreme stuff, extremely vile people saying Mrs O' was a tranny, she still has a dick and you can see it swinging in her trousers when she dances,  she has big shoulders, she looks like a monkey, blah blah, awful awful stuff. I know you didn't go that far but you usually do enough of a hatchet job on her to make it clear you have the same mindset. Truly pathetic to trash a marriage where two people worship each other and show the utmost courtesy and respect around each other.

Returning to the topic,  

The term ''prostitute'' has a specific meaning of course, but many people just carelessly use it in a very unspecified way as a 'catch-all' umbrella term to include 'glamour model, stripper, laptop dancer, pole dancer,  ....... even actresses were called prostitutes in victorian times.

Generalising like this is a very lazy way of speaking and of course it can cause great offence.  Some languages, cultures and strict religions do not even have separate words to distinguish between these professions or labels, they just have one word - yep prossie!

That said, some women who fail in the above professions do sometimes wind up selling their bodies for sex, to pay the rent, that's just how it is.

The fact of the matter is, these are subliminal feelings passed down from generation to generation.  They won't go away in an instant, but we can and should be aware of them.  As William Faulkner wrote, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
