First topic message reminder :

Does anyone know how to get to sleep without the aid of Sleeping Pills or Booze?

For weeks now i'v laid awake to 3 or 4 in the Morning and then woke up after about 2 hours sleep. I'v Tried reading a book, but it doesn't help, last night was the worst ever, went to bed at 11pm, still awake at 3 am. Got up, had a cup of Tea,went back to bed at 4 am, still awake at 5.30 so got up and had a cup of tea, and still don't feel tired up to now.............really pissed off with it !

The key is, don't try to forcefully control your thoughts. If thoughts intrude, let them, acknowledge them, but then direct your attention back to something repetitive.

Get yourself some guided meditation cd's and work at calming down your thoughts.

Tip....don't try that clenching muscles then slowly relaxing them technique.
Last time I tried that I got calf cramp and spent the next 10 minutes hopping round the bedroom in agony. No

Nicko, I have insomnia so I read until my eyes cant stay open, then go to sleep, no matter what time. I've given up looking at the clock as I stay awake longer.
