a fool and his money are soon parted
Sir Richard Branson considered handing £4million over to a conman who pretended to be Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, it emerged today.
The fraudster wrote to the businessman on Government headed notepaper before speaking to him and impersonating the Conservative minister.
As part of the bungled scam, Branson was told a British diplomat had been kidnapped and the UK government needed businessmen to pay the ransom.
Branson later managed to speak to the secretary of the actual minister, who assured him no such request had been made and the whole thing was a hoax by someone trying to make money.
