First topic message reminder :

Raymon, a 90-year-old widower, broke hearts on Tuesday night after becoming the oldest person to have ever appeared on Channel 4’s ‘First Dates’.

The pensioner broke down while reminiscing about his late wife, who passed away 16 years ago - they’d been married for 50 years. Showing a photo of their wedding day, he recalled a funny anecdote from the first night of their honeymoon.

Arriving at their hotel room, the couple realised they’d been given two single beds by mistake. But they improvised by pushing the two together.

“When we went to bed and got together in the middle, the bed spread apart and we ended up on the floor,” he said, with tears filling his eyes.

“You don’t forget things like that,” he sobbed. “I can’t help it... I can’t forget.”

He told the camera: “We adored each other. I think I knew love.”

Just enjoy the colours of the rainbow and don't make it all about chemicals and light. Sad

I agree...love can come in many guises, I can even love a fellow poster sometimes just by the words they have written....love can be fleeting or last a lifetime, it doesn't have to involve sex, even between a man and a woman love can be just romantic ....I suppose we all see love differently.

I like what you say here because you link love to the more general, appreciation for others. As a political theorist I have look into, in some depth, the physical attractions to become social animals. It's not love--which is fraught with sexual feelings and motives--but it is attraction, perhaps farther up the ladder. It is there, and it is powerful.

It's significant to a political world, because if you are an individualist, you tend to become a conservative...selfish, and self-serving, which is at the core of all conservative belief systems. But if you are a strong believer in our social nature, you are cooperative and a social problem solver...you believe in programs that tend to equalize and help one another. That's why I favor socialism, but I don't want to get into political economics and dogma.

Suffice it to say that it is a major dichotomy in my own work.

Thank you Quill.
I didn't work my post out as cleverly as you have....but we agree in part I think.

I do believe its love though....anything that nudges that feeling of euphoria, even momentarily, can evoke loving feelings....its what makes the world a happier place.
