Are you Happy?
In another thread a survey shows that people vastly underestimate the number of people in the country they believe are happy.
If you were asked the question..Are you happy? would you say Yes...or No?
Do you reckon the people you know are happy or unhappy with life?

Re: Are you Happy?
I remember a fairly recent story where John berkow declared that he was 'not happy' after a minor car incident... to then be asked 'ok, so which one of snow whites dwarfs are you?'...!

Obviously not all the time, that would depreciate it's value.

Sometimes the greatest feelings of happiness just come out of the blue, it doesn't happen all that often, but the sudden surge of ^good to be alive^ euphoria that takes you by surprise.....not to be confused with general happiness though...it's too strong.
I had one of those rushes yesterday.....I think it was a good song on the radio and driving through a pretty village simultaneously that brought it on.
Does everyone get them?

I find happiness is my default state, I will at times be something else but it reverts back to happy.
Most people take things more seriously than I do,
so i find I can be angry and happy at the same time, cause conflict can be fun
I think happiness comes easier with lower expections, if you want to fairytale with all the bells and whistles you will often be disappointed.

Yes, I like the term... happiness is my default state.....it explains it very well.
I think less ambitious people possibly find happiness easier to find....always striving for better probably stands in the way of contentment for many.

I do -- even got one playing a video game one time
My point was that if you start trying to intellectualize happiness, you lose that feeling pretty quickly, though. I think that's why we look back at times in our life and think, "Man, that was great!" even though we didn't necessarily think that way at the time.

@syl
i agree but I not sure ambitious is the word i'd use. maybe, higher exceptions.
I am fairly ambitious career wise, but i am also 'successful' in that regard. I might feel differently if i wasn't

People are different....different things make them happy. I have never had any career ambition, when I worked things just turned out OK... no thanks to me really.
I think my lack of ambition always contributed to happiness for me.....no pressure.

It is easy to pick out sad people, not happy ones on forumz, they lie, are nasty, vile, vulgar and wanna play the keyboard warrior whilst assh*** creeping.
I do think, if we post with anyone for any length of time you can sense if they are happy, unhappy, or just plain old miserable bastards.

GET OFF your self-righteous high horse, nicko...
I had Irish ancestors who came over here to escape the "great famine" that the British government forced onto the Irish people..
A few British soldiers against thousands of starved out Irish..
Get fucking real !
You have shown a very warped sense of proportions there..
And I won't even start on the British slaughter of Australian Aborigines..

Re: Are you Happy?
I'm definitely content. I'll say that much.
I've learnt to count my blessings and be grateful for them. I don't go chasing rainbows and impossible dreams.
True "happiness" is a more elusive thing to define, than general contentment. I've seen this topic discussed in other sites. Happiness probably means different things to different people - I mean, some people say they are happy but spend most of their time moaning or ranting.
A truly happy person would probably be gambolling in fields of daises all day and grinning a lot and looking rather mad.
I'd say on the whole I'm content with life, and leave it there.

Contentment is not to be sniffed at Jules. Counting blessings and being satisfied with your lot ....some would say if you have all that you are very lucky.....and maybe happy in an understated unshowy way?
