One thing I will say though... they're all talking about corporation tax...
I disagree with all of them...
What is needed is a system where every corporation must be liable for tax in every country they operate in and on profits made in each country respectively... easy to do if they were forced to set up a head office in each and taxed accordingly on business done in each...

You ever find it frustrating that whether left or right, politicians usually don't agree with you on this issue?

Just goes to show that most politicians today seem to feel far more beholden to financial and corporate interests, then they do to those constituents who actually put them in office...

People assume that someone is "something". Posters rarely bother to really find out what people stand for, they just label them.

You don't have to claim to be anything on forums.

To be fair he is deeply conservative on social issues, on which he is far more vocal than any economic issues.

Conservative on social issues? Or vocal about them?
On immigration, gay rights, ethnic minorities, equality and such you are very conservative. On which social issues are you liberal?

I was saying that I'm not 'conservative' on 'social issues'... which are of a much wider scope than the selection you offer as defining 'social issues'...
I have sensible views on 'social issues'...

So, what are some examples of where you are liberal/LW/not so conservative on social issues- rather than just admitting (in a roundabout way) that you are conservative on those I mentioned

Human rights...the same rights as all of us. I think what Major means is, he would detract from the rights of gays...or, for that matter, anyone of a race, creed or sexual orientation other than his.
His is a belief in in...equality.

MAJOR PAIN would be the ultimate little "pocket dictator"...
Even when falsely claiming that he only wants what he considers "best" for his little corner of England, he only seems prepared to extend any equal rights to his chosen "good guys"..

I support immigration... but I want it properly controlled with proper checks/vetting/selection criteria so we can allow only those who we really want/need.
I support the right of gay people to be able to practice their sexual preferences with other gay people, and free from persecution... however... I do not support the promotion of homosexuality as a right/normal/natural thing or being the same as being heterosexual.
Ethnic minorities should not be classed as a separate group with separate status or special handouts or privileges here in uk.

Just as you wouldn't support the promotion of Catholicism, being a Protestant?
I'm searching for a clarifying analogy here. In other words, it's just a competitive thing for you? You support them, but you are just against any proselytizing?

Don't be vague, tommy.
What should we do with immigrants who come here seeking refuge?
What of those married to British citizens?
Do you agree with open borders with EU nations?
What is your current view on gay people being able to adopt and marry?
Should homosexuality be mentioned by teachers at all?
Do you agree with stop and search be carried out on a disproportionate number of people from ethnic minorities?
You said you are not a social conservative, yet cannot say why.
And you said these are not the defining social issues- so on what social issues are you more liberal?

Re: Nigel Farage on question time now
1) Return them to either the African union or the Arab league to deal with.
2) Abide by existing rules on entry requirements and earnings etc.
3) No.
4) civil partnership was good enough... a child should only be placed with a normal mother and a father family unit.
5) No. They should stick to teaching the core subjects of education.
6) The police target people in response to crime and descriptions of criminals. If certain groups are responsible for a disproportionately high level of crimes then the same groups will also be targeted with a similar level of response by police. That stands to reason and is backed up by reported crime figures.

Re: Nigel Farage on question time now
So, so far so socially conservative then.
Against being allowed to marry the person you love, against helping foreigners escaping persecution, for restrictive rules on immigration, against free movement of people, against helping kids come to terms with themselves- these are all socially conservative positions whether you accept the term or not.
So, again, what are these socially liberal views of yours, since you say you are not, in fact, socially conservative?

Marriage is between a man and a woman... foreigners lie and cheat our asylum rules so I'm all for the genuine ones to be helped, but for their own neighbors to help them... sensible rules on immigration so we can get the ones we want and in numbers that we can accommodate, not a free for all as it is now and thd problems it is causing... free movement is a disaster for the UK and is allowing illegals and criminals too much opportunity to operate unchecked across Europe... the jungle camp is a direct result of open borders inside Europe that let yhe scum flow freely where ever they choose... teaching is about education on core subjects, not pushing the ideas of deviant sexual behaviours...
All sensible positions to hold!!!

Re: Nigel Farage on question time now
Why should anyone believe that people who love someone of the same sex should not be awarded the same rights, comfort, security, moral and legal recognition which marriage provides?
I know till recently they were not, but now they are and I don't understand why anyone would want to deny them that.

I'm particularly interested in this one. These "certain groups" would surely include the Belgians and French, from whose countries most of the trouble comes. Germans from the western cities of Hamburg and Hanover as well...hmmm, I seem to remember a royal family from Hanover.
Ah well...these, then, are the people we should be profiling according to you?

I would match my net worth to yours any day, and come out way ahead. I think it's time we put to bed the RW myth that lefties are all welfare sorts,
The difference between the right and the left is the thought that goes into their respective philosophies. RW'rs, being conservative, and therefore seeing no need for change, simply stopped all creative thinking. Without original thought, they have fallen into a kind of intellectual lethargy.
All they have left are "irritable mental gestures that seek to resemble ideas".
