You talk about the "Britiish & battle, what about the whole world distaste for the American atrocities below.

We did not go to war with each other, sons, fathers, uncles KILLING, MURDERING, MASSACRING 'each other', your own countryfolk in a civil war who were armed with cannon, bullets and swords.

Its a serious point Nick. Major said we dont go around killing each other in civil wars. Ours lasted 100 years..
And more were killed in our 100 year war than the American war of independence.
620,000 in US.
3.2 million in the UK.

The one hundred year war was between Britain France.

Our civil was was when Cromwell closed Parliament, and round heads, Cromwells army against the royalist, King Charles 1st army fought. Cromwell won, lopped the kings head off and ruled as Protector til his death.
