It has long been said that Israel on the Golan Heights, are aiding ISIS
Israel have always tried to deny it. However, a few weeks ago their military intelligence chief let something slip:
Military Intel Chief Says Israel Will Make Sure ISIS Is NOT Defeated in Syria
Worried that the “superpowers” might leave Syria and put Israel in a “hard position,” Israel’s military intel chief has come out to say that they “prefer ISIS” over Assad and don’t want ISIS to be defeated there.
It’s an incredibly overt admission that Israel is actually backing the terrorist group known as ISIS.
Halevy says the country is going to do everything it can to avoid being put in a position where ISIS loses in Syria.

In a speech at the Herzliya Conference, Israel’s military intelligence chief, Major General Herzi Halevy, took Israel’s long-standing position that it “prefers ISIS” over the Syrian government to a whole ‘nother level, declaring openly that Israel does not want to see ISIS defeated in the war.
Quoted in the Hebrew-language NRG site, linked to Maariv, Maj. Gen. Halevy expressed concern about the recent offensives against ISIS territory, saying that in the last three months the Islamist group was facing the “most difficult” situation since its inception and declaration of a caliphate.
Israeli officials have regularly expressed comfort with the idea of ISIS conquering the whole of Syria, saying they find it preferable to the Iran-allied government surviving the war. At the same time, they were never so overtly supportive of ISIS and its survival.

I think this is spot on. I have a friend who is adamant that Israel wants Syria empty to reclaim it as part of the Promised Land.

Good OP, sassy. ISIS, I believe, is just a faction in a long string of factions, being the Taliban, al-Qaeda, al-Qaeda in Iraq, and now ISIL...with pretensions for the entire Levant, but only pickup trucks with which to wage war.
The long-term antagonists in this mess are going to be the uber-conservative Shi'ia, and Israel. Iran and southern Iraq are traditional Shi'is lands. (Israel is only tangentially adverse to the Sunnis because of the Palestinians.) The showdown is inevitably, I believe, going to be between Iran and Israel.

I hope there will never be a showdown between Iran and Israel Quill.. Iran has never invaded another country. It will only happen is Israel bomb them, and that is a possibility. After all, Israel is a nuclear country that has not signed the treaty. By all laws, it should not get any help from any country, both America and ourselves have laws against helping countries with nuclear weapons that have not signed the treaty. Amazing how they get round it

Meh, that's a throw back to the argument that was, for them, money in the bank: We are the professional victim!!! They've got a lot of sympathy out of the holocaust, and the subsequent framing of things, but somewhere they lost their way.
Israel is surrounded by land they want to grab. It's the modern day lebensraum, or "conceptions and policies of a form of settler colonialism connected with agrarianism that existed in Germany from the 1890s to the 1940s."
Prime minister Netanyahu admitted this was the motive of Israel when he said:
CNN wrote:Asked by an interviewer with the Israeli news site, NRG, if it was true that a Palestinian nation would never be formed while he's prime minister, Netanyahu replied, "Indeed."
This was during a tough election in which he needed to appeal to settlers in Palestinian territories. He later flip-flopped, but it was enough to show that Israel intends to grab as much 'living space' as they can, when times are ripe.
Ultimately, the only check on Israel in this is Iran. That's why I predict those two will be in the final showdown.

you seem to forget that your own nation was formed from an actual form of lebensraum. Where the early Colonies, conquered lands, ethnically cleansed them of the indigenous populations, breaking every single treaty the American Government made with them, it did not end there, it expanded further out into other nations.

Re: It has long been said that Israel on the Golan Heights, are aiding ISIS
Hahaha...your depiction of Israel reminds me of a sales strategy used in the retail business: raise the price 50%, then announce a 50%-off sale. Israel goes and takes some land in a war, then takes credit for it when the world insists they give it back.
Why don't you mention the Philippines and Cuba, US prizes in the Spanish American war that were an embarrassment for he US...precisely because the we didn't want them? The only islands/territories that the we have are those that have clung to the US for economic and political security.
You might recall The Gadsden Purchase, or Treaty, which was an agreement between the United States and Mexico, finalized in 1854, in which the United States agreed to pay Mexico $10 million for a 29,670 square mile portion of Mexico that later became part of Arizona and New Mexico. It was land needed for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Look at a map of the US and you'll notice that the southern border of Arizona turns abruptly upwards as it progresses west. Mexico, which had only just lost a war to the US, was in dire need of funds and offered to extend the line west to Puerto Peñasco, on the Sea of Cortez, for an extra few hundred-thousand dollars. The US refused, because they did not want to take advantage. Imagine, Arizona with a Riviera coast today.
Israel is in a true land grab, and it's happening right before our eyes. It's a political movement in Israel. Netanyahu has admitted it, as I said. And the buildings can be seen from the distance. Moreover, every attempt by US and European leaders to establish a two-state solution is rebuffed by Israel. Criticizing remote US history is not going to absolve Israel of its aims and deeds.
