Keith Vaz- is this the real reason why he's known as 'vazeline'...?
MP Keith Vaz tried to hide his real identity from two male escorts by telling them he was a washing machine salesman named Jim.
He blurted out the pseudonym as he was about to engage in sexual activity with two Eastern European male escorts.
As they discussed sex, the men asked the married Labour MP about his work.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/keith-vaz-hid-real-identity-8763804
And it looks like he was paying them with money from a charity too...
A statement seen by the Sunday Mirror shows two cash deposits of £150 each were paid into an account after details were texted to Mr Vaz.
Each time the money was paid in by a man linked to Silver Star – a diabetes charity set up by Mr Vaz six years ago when the MP developed the illness.
The first payment was made on August 5 with the reference “Painting”. There is no suggestion the man knew the real purpose of the payment.
A day earlier Mr Vaz texted one of the escorts to say a payment would be made ahead of a further meeting.
He wrote: “I will send you £100 as a gift from me because you need some money.”
When asked to make it £150, the MP replied: “OK but next time you and [the other man] see me you better be extra nice. What is name and banking details.”
The money was paid the following day. And on August 23, the day before the second payment was made, Mr Vaz texted one of the escorts saying: “£150 for you, me, bf and Romanian.”

The BBC are bending over backwards to tell us how great vaz is and how no crime has been broken and how painful it must be for poor old vaz to have such an intrusive story going on about his private life...
He was paying rent boys for sex and trying to get class a drugs... plus these rent boys were paid by the diabetes charity... surely improper use of funds and drugs is breaking the law... even if paying rent boys for homosexual sex may not technically be... although I'm sure his wife won't thing it's OK...!?

The houses he owns doesn't tally with the wages he earns.
Sorry though I feel for his wife she has a few properties in her name too, so unless they had inherited wealth and they don't seem to.....how come he can afford so much property?

You'll find that a lot of labour MPs invested in buying up houses over last 20 years while overseeing the opening up of mass immigration that subsequently drove up the value of housing by massive amounts during this time...

And no doubt they let them out. either to private renters who cant find affordable houses to buy, or local councils, who pay over the odds and let them out to DHSS.

Labour also oversaw the massive increase in 'buy to let' mortgages which have resulted in many people now being unable to themselves get mortgages to buy their own home, but are forced to instead pay rents to pay for the 'buy to let' mortgages of others for them to own them...

I rent. I have never wanted a mortgage. What for? To buy a house you can't live in when you're dead? To be in constant fear that you might lose it?

Rent an house for 20 years or so and the money you'v spent would have probley bought it. It now costs more to rent than to buy in a lot of cases.

he owes his position to Greville Janner.Tommy Monk wrote:The man is a complete weasel... makes you wonder why he has been such a successful politician...!?
Vaz was the one that squashed an investigation into janner back in the 90's allowing him to continue buggering boys for another 2 decades.
Now a possible reason why he might have done so becomes clear. Perhaps Janner had dirt on him.

to have something to leave to the brats? And with mortgage rates at rock bottom it can be even cheaper to buy than rent. Of course mortgages can go up.eddie wrote:I rent. We are more concerned with buying our homes in the UK than many other countries....Thatcher started the notion that everyone could afford to buy, and obviously a lot got into negative equity when the % rates went up....that will probably happen again to some who are buying now.

yes some people were stupid and borrowed to the limit of what they could afford and lost out when rates went up, there's a moral there somewhere.Syl wrote:The Devil, You Know wrote:

however by and large bricks and mortar are a good long term investment for the future of the family.
mine has tripled in price on what I paid for it in the last 7 years and brings me an income every month. and since I have owned it it has provided a home for 5 people over the years

Plenty do want to buy... and would be able to if there weren't so many held by people with buy to let mortgages.
There would always have been some rental properties available for others who wanted to rent.

Yep....bricks and mortar is a better investment than many other things you could buy.
It's having the initial deposit, being secure in a job to keep up payments, and praying the interest rate desn't shoot up sky high (we bought when it soared as high as 18%) till you are out of negative equity.

Nope. I wouldn't slog my guts out and never see them becasue they would be at a childminders whilst I'm working...simply to leave them a house?
Hell no.
I want a life and I want to see my kids. I'll spend the money on them and myself now whilst I'm still alive.
A mortgage is a noose around your neck and I'm not interested. Don't care if they don't have money when I die - that's for them to sort out, they get so much input with their education so they can get a good job. And who knows? In forty years, when I've snuffed it, the lizard people might take the house I just bought, away anyway.....
No guarantees and I ain't living my life on a tomorrow.

I understand your thinking Eddie. However, it is generally cheaper to buy than to rent in the UK at the moment with the low interest rates. Plus there is an end in sight rather than a lifetime of rent payments.
As you get older and your income reduces, not having rent or a mortgage payment can make the difference between a comfortable retirement or life on the bread line.
As Nicko says, 20 years of rental payments would probably pay for the house rather than rental payments over 60 odd years lining someone else's pocket. The main issue seems to be saving up deposits.
Not having to pay rent could also mean that parents could use that income to help fund their children's university education
It's all down to personal choice, I don't have children to leave my property to but I feel that it gives me an element of security and choices as I get older.
PS - hope the first day of school went ok xx
