Racism and homophobia are stupid things advocated by stupid people based on false premises, and both of them foment hatred. Why would anybody want to talk about those things except in the context of how people come to have those beliefs, and how their minds might be changed?

I don't advocate racism or homophobia but if people do then they should be allowed to express their opinion.
It boils down to the majority silencing the minority opinion regardless of what the minority opinion is.

My original comment was in response to why I think people should be allowed to express homophobic and/or racist opinions.
I never said anyone should be exempt from criticism.

Outside of that nm main problem is people who try to make it a crime to express certain opinions.

Just to set the record straight, here's an example of something you are allowed to say here:

"That gay black guy is a horrible piece of shit."

Here's how to say it if you want to get warned, and how to say it several times if you want to get banned (I'll bleep it, but you get the idea):

"That f*****t n******r is a horrible piece of shit."

In other words, criticism and swearing is fine. Slurs are not.
