A look at the growing disinformation wars Empty A look at the growing disinformation wars

The right has long accused the media of bias, but now some on the left, including Bernie Sanders, are echoing accusations of media bias. New York Times media columnist Jim Rutenberg says the "Trump era forces us to be a little more aggressive" about the telling the truth because journalists are met with "so much disinformation."But Roll Call columnist Mary C. Curtis adds that journalists have to be cognizant of their own biases, "every journalist frames their story, and we have to be honest about that." Adam Serwer and Bari Weiss also join.

All people in power in a Democracy find the media inconvenient. Nothing new there.

What is hugely funny and entertaining that Trump has now turned his wrath and vented his spleen at Fox News, the purveyors of fake right wing propaganda .
Perhaps they are too left wing even for Genghis Trump.

Another funny thing is, going back ages in America, right-wing politicians later admitting that they only called the media liberal because they were trying to get softer coverage. Plenty have said that they never really thought the media covered them unfairly.

Fox television ('Foxtel') is being squeezed from two sides these days...

First off, Rupert is over the hill --  with Lachlan, James and Elizabeth increasingly taking the helm over recent years, FoxNews in future might not be quite as accommodating towards the ultra-conservatives --  Bill O'Reilly's sacking last year (or the year before ?) might only have been the first of clearing the decks of Rupert's puppets (Murdoch's muppets ?).

Secondly, now that the Fox studios/movies and internet divisions have been merged into Disney, Disney corp. now has an interest in still protecting the "Fox" name in relation to those divisions that the Murdochs have kept in News Ltd.   The Murdochs' shareholding in Disney is only the second largest block --  after Steve Jobs' widow (Laurene Powell Jobs) and Apple corp.
