Young woman 'gang raped' at Bluewater shopping centre

A young woman was reportedly gang raped in a Bluewater car park.

Kent Police is investigating after the woman in her 20s was allegedly sexually assaulted by seven men.

She is believed to have been waiting for a bus when she was allegedly bundled into a van before being subjected to a three-hour attack.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating after receiving a report that a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted in a car park at Bluewater between 6.30pm and 9pm on 6 March.

"As part of ongoing inquiries, 11 arrests have been made in connection with the investigation.”

All those arrested in connection with the Mother's Day attack have been released on bail while inquiries continue.

Kent Police have refused to reveal how long these persons of interest have been bail for.

A spokesman for Bluewater said: "Kent Police is investigating an incident that took place in a Bluewater car park on March 6.

"From day one this has been a police matter and therefore we can’t and don’t comment on an ongoing investigation.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and guests is our highest priority.

"Bluewater’s security procedures are regularly reviewed and tested, and we have a 24 hour security team and dedicated onsite Kent police officers.

"As well as extensive CCTV across the whole of Bluewater, our car parks are patrolled and we have security vehicles that provide a further visible presence."

The news part of that article is that the men have been arrested -- not hard to believe it may have taken six weeks to round up 11 rapists.

The articles say 7 rapists... 11 people arrested... 1 released without charge and no further action... 10 released on bail...



But the point is that this alleged attack happened 6 weeks ago and should have been big news from the start for a number of reasons!!!

Maybe neither the victim nor the police contacted the media about the crime? How are reporters supposed to know everything that's going on?

Often sensitive crimes aren't immediately reported to the media.

It would be in the interests of public safety to be made aware of it early on and also in the interests of urging witnesses to come forward.
