Bluewater security guard orders blind man with a guide dog out of the shopping centre to the fury of fellow shoppers
This is the moment angry shoppers confronted a security guard who told a blind man with a guide dog to leave a popular shopping centre.
In the video, filmed on Saturday at Bluewater in Kent, a female shopper can be heard saying 'you do know they're allowed everywhere?' before the blind man said he would carry on shopping.
Meanwhile, the security guard who asked the man to leave turns around so his back is facing the camera.
Pauline Letchford, 61, was shopping with her family when she realised what was happening.
She said: 'The man's wife was going into the shops. We noticed the dog because it was so beautiful. He just stood by the barrier and never took the dog into a shop.
'We then noticed the security guard started to follow them and then he said "you've got to leave, you can't have a dog in here".
'The man and his wife politely explained that he was blind and he was allowed to be with a dog. It was awful that he was being targeted like that. I felt so sorry for him.'

Another one who doesn't know the law. What happened to staff training?

Who knows Rags, but the individual clearly needs further training on this.

Obviously he needs retraining, but common sense should have kicked in before he opened his gob....idiot.
The good thing is passers by intervened and stood up for the blind man, too often people look the other way....so good for them for speaking out.

Assuming it is well known as it is down here, I agree with LF completely

It shouldn't be assumed that everyone knows the law, and this man clearly didn't. Staff training should include the kind of thing that many people already know just in case some people don't know.

ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law

I always thought that was a stupid saying. I think it's a bit much how people are trying to humiliate this man. We don't hear what he said on the video, and he's clearly been told the law now, so there's no reason for anyone to keep on slating him. I've even read some rather bigoted and racist comments about him. Nobody died or got hurt, and the blind man has been apologised to.
