The English are strongly influenced by the Norman bloodline, and what is the root word for Normans? Norse men. So I would expect that their bloodlines would also be related to the Nordic lines as well.
I've noticed the same thing about Dutch men: Tall and quiet athletic.
Don't say that in front of Bru - it'll go to his head.
Yes, well he seems a decent lad.
There's a chap up in Dundee that specializes in facial types:

Interestingly, Dutch women are also the tallest on average. In the Nordic countries they're not particularly tall on average, except in Denmark.

The Danes are the ones they are talking about when they mention Normans. Maybe they grew shorter to accommodate those tight little boats.

I'm amazed that the average height for women in the UK is still around 5'4". It's been the same for years and years, and yet so many young women seem very tall to me. I suppose old ladies are living longer and shrinking more. I was considered to be tall at school, but I'm just above average height.

I'm tall myself, so I'm attracted to tall women. Becky is 5' 10", and is a movie double for Charlize Theron. So it is a fact that you get attracted to a type.
The Nordic types generally are tall. That and the light complexion, which I'm finding out can be a liability as you age.

I have to keep a dermatologist on retainer, I have so many skin-related conditions. When you're young, being light complected means you tan well, and have fair skin and hair. But as you age, you learn that it's not a very good covering.

Having a light complexion usually means you burn more easily, not tan well!?

Well fair skin is often quite delicate, so it's prone to things like rosacea, sensitivity, etc. Some might say that it wrinkles earlier too.
I've never tanned very well - not on my face, and I look silly with fake tan on.

The technology to turn oneself into a mixed-race avatar might be confined to movies, but Brian Banton plays with racial manipulations of himself online.
As a York University graduate student, he explores questions of racial hybridity as related to corporate design. Much of the work is obscurely theoretical, Banton says. "But I also want to be playful. (Mixed race) is a serious issue but I don't want to be heavy-handed."
Banton was born in Brampton, the offspring of a Scottish-born mother and Jamaican-born father. When visiting his mother's family, he feels black, he says. When he's with his father's family he feels white. He calls himself "mixed" and "biracial" and "just myself," but he also admits to a low-level underlying anxiety. People have guessed him to be Italian, Greek, Arab and South American, he says, never half-Scottish half-Jamaican.
"There is comfort in being explicitly part of a community," Banton says. "I'm in this middle space, not fully committed to one side.
Barack Obama is of mixed race, raised in a white family and celebrated as the first black U.S. president, the student points out. Singer Mariah Carey also "straddles the border," sometimes confusing people, he says.
Once, when he was working for a branding company, Banton designed a poster that included small human figures. The poster went through a series of approvals but was stopped just before going to the printer. Unconsciously, he says, he gave the people olive-coloured skin.
"Somebody decided the people were too ambiguous in terms of race," he says. "We re-photographed the image with explicitly white people."
Banton's girlfriend, whom he describes as half-Asian, half-white, recently came across a website called Face of the Future. Built by Scotland's University of St. Andrews, it allows the user to upload a headshot and see what the face would look like as another race.
"(The software) clearly shows visual markers that identify us physically in the face," Banton says. "I've always played on my own ambiguity and I thought this was just pushing it a bit further."
In one photo, he comes out as a white person. In three others, he comes out in progressively darker shades. "I want to experiment," he says. "It would be interesting to set up different accounts on dating sites and see if people are more attracted to an Asian version of me versus the black or white version."
The website, however, lacks the capacity to show the person with blue skin and a tail.

I would like to know when anyone on Corrie is going to notice that Simon is of mixed race. Peter Barlow is dark but he's white, and Simon's mother was fair.

That's what I mean. I've had it all, including cancer, which was negligible, but nevertheless disturbing. I was also something of a natural blond (albeit darker), and that turned gray all too quickly.

We talked about this on a forum years ago. The older Simon gets the more his facial features are that of a mixed race boy. The producers have actually denied he is mixed race....but unless he is a throwback which can certainly happen, I would be surprised to find his parents were both white.
Just to add...he is a brilliant little actor.

Yeah, the photographer who took that photo--Barry Evans, of Berkeley--was used to posing university professors for resumes and such. So he went heavy on the shadows and it makes my hair look dark. It's was actually a kind of straw color, but definitely gray now. Lol.
Tks on the cancer concern, but it was quickly excised.

The thing is that even Peter is too dark really. Ken isn't dark, and Valerie wasn't dark either. Even allowing for Peter's dark looks, Simon is clearly half black.
I prefer his acting now that he's turned into a monster.

This is Dirk Bogarde. Hmmm... Forehead too tall. He poses like me. But his hair is much too bushy. Mine is thiner and much lighter. And he's got a cute bob at the end of his nose. I've got a Scottish nose...as my Clan Chief noted. The biggest difference is, I don't have those soulful eyes. I'll bet the ladies go for them.

Dirk Bogarde was a brilliant actor. He played the part of a homosexual lawyer in the film 'Victim' years before homosexuality was legalised in the UK.
Brave, considering he was a closet gay himself.
I remember watching that film and thinking how brave he was to tackle the role.

Never heard of Bogarde, and I've never seen any of his films (that have been mentioned).
The picture is done in black and white, against a painted canvas background. The dark effect is produced with light and shadows. The photographer was Barry Evans, on Euclid Avenue, in North Berkeley. He did my father's photograph, which hangs in the administrative offices of Herrick Memorial Hospital in Berkeley, and he did mine afterwards.
And the ring on the right ring finger I picked up in Izmir, Turkey, along the 'Street of Gold', where I also purchased a Swiss gold watch. The suit is a muted olive green cloth, which I don't have anymore. The tie was of muted green-gold swirls, if memory serves. The French cuffs are fake, provided by the photographer. It was a simple oxford cloth white shirt with normal cuffs.
Yep, it's me.

Re: Message from a young Muslim girl to Donald Trump
Scots are very special people. Look, for a race (Celtic) that never had a written language--meaning they were basically illiterate--they musta had something because right now they have the best public education system in the UK, and the four best universities in the UK.
Now I know we were talking about physical and facial features, but that's gotta be influenced by the personal character of the people you meet. Scots are charming, and they can really charm you.
And, there is something about intelligence that breeds higher moral character. If their education system is any indication, they are a cut above in that area too.
