They don’t seem to mind at all.
Six weeks into Donald Trump’s presidency and one of the few constants has been allegations of ties between members of his administration and Russia. Another, it would seem, is the continued support of his fanbase despite this. That meetings took place between Trump aides and Russian officials during the US election campaign in 2016 isn’t in doubt. What is causing controversy is what was discussed during this contact and what each person under scrutiny has willingly disclosed.
In the best case scenario, these were simply routine meetings at which Trump’s aides were not acting in a capacity related to the election campaign.
WHO SPOKE TO THE RUSSIANS?
- National Security Advisor Michael Flynn (has since been fired)
- Attorney General Jeff Sessions (has recused himself from overseeing Justice Department investigation into Russian interference in the US election
- Senior Trump aide and son-in-law Jared Kushner
- National Security Advisers to the campaign, J D Gordon and Carter Page
- Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort (resigned in August)
- Longtime Advisor Roger Stone
- Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen
- The Washington Post has a detailed breakdown here.
In the worst case scenario, these meetings are evidence of collusion between Trump’s team and the Russians, including ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, in order to undermine the US presidential election.
This would include Moscow’s alleged role in hacking the Democratic National Committee (DNC), something the US intelligence community is convinced did occur.
The scandal has already claimed one scalp - Michael Flynn was fired as National Security Advisor when it transpired he had not disclosed to Vice President, Mike Pence, a discussion with Kislyak about sanctions in December.
Jerry Wirth, 63, is a Christian ordained minister from Evansville, Indiana.
He told The Huffington Post UK: “Colonel Flynn sort of stepped in a cow patty and said a little bit a little to soon to the Russians, but I don’t see the great harm he did except in not letting his boss know who tracked the bovine scat on the new rug.”
The latest to be caught up in the furore is Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, who this week recused himself from the investigation into the affair.
Democrats have said this is not enough and that he should resign.

'This is McCarthyism!' Donald Trump claims Barack Obama had his 'wires tapped' at Trump Tower before he was elected
Donald Trump has accused Barack Obama of having his "wires tapped" at Trump Tower in October, before he was elected US president. Mr Trump unleashed a tirade of tweets at about 6.30am (11.30am GMT) Saturday morning accusing the former president of using wire taps to spy on him at his New York base.
"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!," he tweeted.
He president compared the alleged surveillance to Watergate, the 1970s scandal that brought down president Richard Nixon: "How low has President Obama gone to tapp (SIC) my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!"
Mr Trump also appeared to make a threat of legal action, saying "I'd bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to the Election!".
Mr Trump did not provide any additional evidence to back up his claims and it was unclear what information he was relying on.

The saddest part about all of this. Is that millions of Trump supporters actually believe him. Not based on any facts, but like a religion with faith. Blind worship. Its also right on cue, for what Trump always does, when he is under scrutiny, as he is over the links with Russia. Make outlandish claims to misdirect people off his issue and works every time. Like I say, its getting to the point of being a cult following.

Re: TrumpWatch: Donald Trump Supporters Have Their Say On The Russia Links Scandal
A California Congressman took to Twitter on Saturday morning to warn Fake President Trump that — if he is correct that his Trump Tower phones were tapped — he is “in deep sh*t.”
***
Although Trump provided no information that he may have been monitored, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) stated that the president may want to lawyer up.
“Mr. President: If there was a wiretap at Trump Tower, that means a fed judge found probable cause of crime which means you are in deep shit,” Lieu wrote. After providing a link to a Washington Post article on Trump’s tweets and the fallout, Lieu took it a step further.
“Either @realDonaldTrump is paranoid like Nixon, or judge found probable cause of crime for #wiretap. Either way our President is in trouble,” he wrote.

lol, so if he was really tapped, and done so legally. It would be because of a crime?
Why am I not surprised.
So either way Trump is going to look very stupid on this.
What do you reckon Ben?
Shortest Presidency in history?
I reckon day by day, he is becoming odds on favorite too become the shortest in history and also end up in jail..

Re: TrumpWatch: Donald Trump Supporters Have Their Say On The Russia Links Scandal
So which major-scale investigation will Trump launch first?
Will he see if a sitting president really had an opposition-party candidate illegally monitored?
Or will he investigate the three to five million people who voted illegally for Hillary Clinton, giving her the popular vote victory, as he also repeatedly claims?
It would be a massive dereliction of duty for Trump, as president, to fail to urgently investigate either of these shocking claims he's made.

For everyone's sake, I certainly hope so. That said, as you say, Trump supporters are pretty cultish and information-immune. I even try to get them to imagine evidence surfacing that Obama had improper ties to Iran and not even that makes a dent.
I think the Democrats need to get some inspiring new leaders, focus their near-term efforts on pushing for an investigation of Trump and on the upcoming mid-term election, prepare to endure four years of Trump and have a stellar candidate ready to oppose him in 2020.

The problem is though they need someone who is going to stand out from he crowd. Someone who can challenge Trumps magnetism. Trump has played off completely a culture of fear and its working. What someone needs to do, is being Democratic and show there is issues and not to down play them, but and here is the big butt. Not play to the tune of Trump. He wants people to react to him, so he can a few days later throw in a big accusation to misdirect from himself. Trump needs to be starved of attention from the Democrats, but to promote a reasoned way to combat fears people have. If people just continually attack Trump, it just feeds into the mindset of Trump supporters. Let the law do its work. Allow the media to do its job and report his wrongs, but for the Democrats to not jump on this. You will then starve Trump of the many accusations he always makes.
They need to learn to do the opposite of what he constantly expects.

Re: TrumpWatch: Donald Trump Supporters Have Their Say On The Russia Links Scandal
The next Democratic nominee needs to (in my opinion):
* Represent the future and appeal to Millennial voters (they'll be the largest voting bloc in 2020)
* Appeal simultaneously to the unity and diversity of the American people
* Possess a great deal of personal charisma while also being classy and respectful (the anti-Trump)
* Take a few pages from Bernie Sanders' agenda and reclaim the economic populism that Trump hijacked from Democrats
* Be backed by a tech-savvy operation that knows how to keep internal communications safe from hackers. Podesta's downfall was simply that he failed to recognize a phishing e-mail.
Once we regain power we need to pass a raft of legislation aimed at making elections fair (gerrymander reform), accessible (no restrictive voter ID laws) and transparent (enshrine in law the tradition of candidates releasing tax documents).

Good points but failed to address the most single biggest problem.
Allaying fears hyped up by those on the opposite team
They end up playing into their hands on this, by refusing to recognise problems.
The key is to win trust and you wont have that, unless people start being really honest about problems.
Trump actually played off fears and did it so well. That the Democrats are falling for his misdirection every time.
They need to starve him of his attention
Allow him to fuck up
He will in the end.
