If only we woke up beforehand.

An Old Bailey jury has convicted two young London men of the brutal murder of fusilier Lee Rigby.

It took the jury of eight women and four men about 90 minutes to return guilty verdicts on Michael Adebolajo, 28 and Michael Adebowale, 22.

The pair were found not guilty of attempting to murder police officers at the scene of the killing on May 22.

The murder of the off-duty soldier both horrified and united the nation, as politicians, faith leaders and members of the community in south east London came together to condemn the killing.

The 25-year-old drummer with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was singled out by his attackers because he was a soldier.

These men have been arrested before.

These men were abusing soldiers at the Olympic Games.

These men bought guns and tried to buy ammunition from black criminals in London.

These men preached in London in public.

They were known to the security services.

Lee Rigby was killed by political correctness just as many Americans have within their own army.

This was not about anything PC Andy, nobody could have predicted they would act. There are also radicals that preach and talk loads of hate, they never do anything though and also they should not be here either with the hate they promote, so on that front I agree.

One of the brothers of one of the terrorists has just said in a Sky News interview that Britain's streets are the theatre of war.

When asked if he regrets that a man was murdered he replied his regret is that muslims are dying.

As soon as these start listening to these "hate preachers" they should be arrested and sentenced as terrorists because they have already been radicalised - that's why they go there.

Obviously if most Muslims were like the hateful killers who murdered Rigby, there would be far more violence in the world, as nearly 1 in 4 people on Earth are Muslim. Obviously most of them lead peaceful lives.

We spotlight the unusual, the remarkable, things that shock. If it's an ordinary part of life, we don't report on it, and when something becomes the norm it doesn't make headlines. So nobody should ever take a collection of headlines and use them to draw broad conclusions about reality.

That's just what I've always been taught, from college (university) and on through my career -- can't take credit for it. But it does seem like something we all lose sight of from time to time -- who doesn't hear about a horrible crime and say, "This world's going crazy"?
