Angel Of Woolwich Who Confronted Muslim Murderers Of Lee Rigby Detained "After Race Rant In Pharmacy"

A woman dubbed the 'Angel of Woolwich' for confronting Lee Rigby's two killers has been detained under the Mental Health Act after allegedly racially abusing a shop worker.

Ingrid Loyau-Kennett was praised by Prime Minister David Cameron for her actions outside Woolwich barracks in May last year.

But today it emerged the 49-year-old has been detained following an alleged race row and released into the care of the NHS.

Police are investigating claims she was escorted from a Tesco in Helston, Cornwall, after a row with a black pharmacist last Friday.

It is claimed she told the man he should not be allowed in England and should be working in Nigeria.

Tesco is said to have handed over CCTV footage to Devon and Cornwall Police.

Now reports state that on Monday she was detained under the Mental Health Act.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: 'We are aware of an incident which took place at our Helston store on Friday.

'Colleagues at the store are helping the police with their inquiries.'

Police have only stated that inquiries are ongoing following an allegation of verbal racial abuse at the store. No one has been arrested or spoken to.

Police were called to the Bulwark Estate at around lunchtime on Monday, over concerns for the welfare of a woman - believed to be Ms Loyau-Kennet.

Officers have not confirmed that the two incidents are linked or involve Ms Loyau-Kennett.

A spokesman said only: 'Following [Monday’s] incident a 49-year-old woman from Helston has been detained under the Mental Health Act to the Royal Cornwall Hospital and released into the care of the NHS.'

I wonder why she isn't keen on foreigners.

Having seen something as awful as that it wouldn't be surprising if it had affected her mentally poor woman.

The other way round a rant at a white person from a Nigerian would not be a police and NHS issue.

A UK woman dubbed the “Angel of Woolwich” for confronting the killers of soldier Lee Rigby has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Ingrid Loyau-Kennett, 49, was praised by Prime Minister David Cameron for her actions shortly after Fusilier Rigby, 25, was killed near his barracks in Woolwich, London, in May last year.

But it is understood she was detained on Monday after police were called to an address in Cornwall over concerns for the welfare of a woman.

Police said a 49-year-old woman had been detained under the Mental Health Act.

“She was detained at about 4.20pm and conveyed to the Royal Cornwall Hospital and released into the care of the NHS.”

Ms Loyau-Kennett was under investigation following claims a Tesco supermarket worker was racially abused at a store in the town last Friday.

“We are aware of an incident which took place at our Helston store on Friday,” a Tesco spokesman said.

“Colleagues at the store are helping the police with their inquiries.”

Ms Loyau-Kennett received national acclaim for calmly talking to armed Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale after they murdered Fusilier Rigby in the street.

On the first anniversary of the killing, Loyau-Kennett spoke at the scene where she checked Fusilier Rigby’s pulse and confronted Adebowale.

“It has been a waste of three lives and, of course, a year on I still think about Lee Rigby’s mother losing a son,” she said.

“It’s a tragedy. I don’t have flashbacks, but I have been very emotional lately.

“This street looks like a normal street now, but I can still see the body, see the crashed car and see the bloodied hands.”

I was just saying that I hadn't noticed this already here when I posted my thread.

To be fair, a lot of people are trying to draw a connection between the rant and being detained, but I think concerns have been expressed to authorities before about how she's apparently pretty traumatized and needs care. The racist rant appears to be being (rightly) treated like a symptom of her emotional problems, certainly not like a crime.

To be fair, i thought it was a perfectly ok thread until Sassy came on and ranted herself.
