I would want to adopt an older dog Sass about 2 years and over who needs a good home.
Wish me luck x
Good work
doesn't matter the breed
Both my dogs are rescued (a Jack Russell and a Maltese cross)
Puppies are cute but there is something special about dogs that 'know' when they have finally found their forever home
if you teach a dog to trust again it's loyalty knows no bounds
Thanks just hope i find him/ her soon.

Much better to rescue an older dog, the puppies always get homes, it's the older ones that dont.

Yep, local park, lovely to see all the dogs running together and playing, providing it's safe, off the lead so that they don't feel threatened by the other dogs.

Wonderful companions. My mum cried into her dogs' necks and they sat so quietly and just loved her.
Making me well up just thinking about it.
I was so grateful to those dogs.
All gone now to doggy heaven x

Re: For the Dog lovers out there..........
Ok guys so some good news!
Getting a female Dog age 7 from Spain rescue centre. They work with the Dog watch charity in the UK.
She's lived in the kennel for over 5 years and has a slight limp which doesn't affect her health in any way,
I just had to have her after reading that!
She is coming over 2nd week of November if my home visit is approved!

She looks very sweet but you are quite mad.
A poorly healed fracture suggests neglect and there is going to be a reason she has been there five years.
That poor dog is going to have issues to say the least. Only an experienced dog person in a house with no children or other animals should take this on.
Why from Spain anyway, dog rescue centres are full to busting here in Britain.

Oppps...just a joke...laughing at the circumstances, not your dog. You will admit it is a bit strange to go all the way to Spain to get a dog.
But congratulations. Give her a hug.

Hi Sexy, it's not about being good enough. These dogs have had a bad start in life and need to be carefully placed. It's all about the dog and giving it the best chance it has to have a happy and loving home.
I'm sure you have a big heart but a dog like this needs one on one attention. There is a reason why you have been refused by Battersea, Mayhew and the RSPCA. Don't take it personally. These charities have one thing in mind, getting these animals new homes, forever homes.

Sexy...you are totally nuts dontcha know????
BAD idea taking on a (likely abused /neglected dog) with no previous experience of dog handling
Seriously doing that is NOT a job for the inexperienced or (with all due respect) unknowlegeable.
can YOU read canine body language accurately?
can YOU understand how dogs "reason" (and yes they do....)
I have 45 years plus of dog handling...from GSD's to chihuahuas and if anyone with children proposed such an idea to me my answer would be a flat "dont do it"
you might get away with it and everything will be fine....but then again you might well not
then you end up with a child scarred for life and terrified of dogs....or worse....
Is It REALLY worth it?
Please...rethink this........

Absolutely not. Labradors are hard work and much harder to train to be sociable with cats. I adore my Benny, but I would never say that he should be anyone's 'first dog', he has unending energy, will quite literally 'talk back' to you if he doesn't want to do something and needs huge amounts of exercise, as do all labs when they are young. As my vet said, Labs don't grow up until they are about 10 and then die about about 13.

No Raggs it doesn't, but a dog that had been mistreated and kept in captivity for five years is going to have psychological problems. Putting it through the stress of a flight to totally different surroundings is in my opinion, cruel. Thats before you even consider the other occupants of the home its going to.

Well if nobody takes the dog, it will stay there for another five years probably. I don't quite understand why she can't find one here though.

No dog should ever be left like that if they cant rehome it they should euthanize it
She cant get one in Britain because all the dog rehoming places say she is not suitable.

Re: For the Dog lovers out there..........
The dog is a podenco, which is similar to a lurcher, and although it has a limp it has had everything done, vacinations etc and is a perfectly healthy dog. It's very difficult to rehome dogs in spain, which is probably why she has been in kennels so long. She is doing it through a respected dog charity over here, and yes the flight will be stressful, but it's one day and then she'll have a home if it goes ahead. SM knows that the poor thing will need loads of time and attention, it's never going to be left alone and she has no small children in the house now, time flies so fast and they are teenagers.
Really, she is not going into this with her eyes shut.

Sorry I disagree completely. She has been turned down in Britain and there are many thousands of dogs need rehoming so they don't do that with out cause.
