First topic message reminder :

A gay couple were subjected to a torrent of abuse in a London branch of Tesco after they shared a brief kiss in the store. Steve Luetchford, 28, was shopping with his 25-year-old partner Mattia Pievani at a Tesco branch in Brixton on Friday evening when, they claim, a female cashier verbally abused them. The woman is alleged to have said that the couple should be "ashamed" after she witnessed their intimate moment. When they challenged the woman on her views she continued to insult them, it is claimed.
They then requested that two other staff members refer them to the store manager so that they could lodge a complaint.

You put labels on people all the time!!!

Listen up. If my three year old daughter is trying to explain about a boy or girl in her class she will say "the boy with the brown skin mummy'

Okay? She's not being racist.
He has bloody brown skin and that's that.

I'm described as white and my mate who's ripped you to racial shreds, calls herself black, her Hubble is white and her kids are half-caste or "mixed race" if you have to be so PC

Get over it! We see ourselves by colour when we have to and by how short or tall we are when we have to or by hair colour when we have to....etc bloody etc

Rolling Eyes

To me is placing racial labels onto people which is not necessarilly racist is wrong.

Sorry I did not realise I was not allowed to disgaree with people Eddie is this some new rule you have instigated?

To a child they are describing but this is adults placing a label which I find very poor.

So no I will not get over Eddie, you may well be a Mod, but I have every right to express my opinions.

My point is we are human are we have no reason to define ourselves by colour. The only reason is because of racism itself to defend against this happening. The only thing we should define ourselves by is our nationalities or if people wish their religion. When are people like yourself going to wake up and realise that such labels are so backward. How do you think these poor views of people start, whether it be "ginger" or "slant eyes" or "chink"

So I will ask again, why do you even need to label people this way, I though we all had names given to us by our parents, but this I guess has little meaning, you prefer to define people by colours which do not even match who we are.

The question is - why do some black people differentiate so much between different tones of black skin, and why would someone strive for "red skin"?

Surely even he can see from the chart that you can have two colours which are similar, but one has a warm tone and the other can have a cool tone. Laughing

If Didge knew the first thing about lipstick, he'd know that ladies with cool tones to their skin need to avoid peachy or orangy colours. Laughing

Well I guess she needs to go to specsavers as white people unless albino are not white and those cast as black have different forms and shades of brown. I never said you cannot use, that is your choice if you so wish, what I am doing is rightly question your need to do so.

Skin tone is part of your heritage?
All our ancestors were once what we define as black, so that means we all share the same heritage if you go back far enough.
The point again is why are you even placing a label to define groups of people with the colour of their skin.
I thought we were all given names at birth or that like me you are British or English if you so wish to be defined and that in my case my ethnicity is Irish/Sicilian/Maltese. It is from colourization that rascism formed in the first place. To me are all one race, the human race and we do not even need to define groups of people with colour but again because of racism it is need to protect people from discrmination. If racism did not exist, there would be no need to define people this way. The fact is everyone has different tones of skin colour that vary throughout the season, and if I wanted to be pendantic you would have to keep changing how you would describe each person by a colour throughout the year. Do you see how silly it can get to do so?
So again I ask why do you even need to define groups of people this way?

Well she is again very naive and also not very bright because you have racism in Africa itself between different African groups and even those from Africa towards aboriginals who happen to have just about the darkest skin out of everyone. So to say black women cannot be racist towards other black women shows that you do not understand racism at all. It was in many cases Africans themselves that captured other tribes to sell onto the Europeans for slavery and where certainly in parts of Africa in Muslim majority areas they had also black slaves. So if you think Blacks cannot be racist towards each other then you are not the brightest spark.
So can an Englishman who is classed white be racist towards an Irishman who is white?
Did you know that in the US the Irish were once classed and defined as black?
Now if you want a real history lesson instead of having to read the poor potty mouth that you seem to have been educated with, then I am happy to help you here.

Thew reason such classifications are needed is because of racism and discrmination.

To me, where the confusion comes in is when someone wants to completely change their dark skin by using lightening products.

I'm "white", and my skin is a particular tone. It's the colour I was born, and the only way I would change it is to use a bit of make up to even it out a bit. There's no point me using a yellow-based make up because it just looks yellow and clashes with my natural colour.

I did try a bronzer on my face a few times, but it looked ridiculous on me. Laughing

Again I stated why it would be better to define people by nationalities and ethnicities, no colour is involved then Eddie and it also breaks down to where people originate from. Where as a colour places so many different ethnicities all under one hat.
I suggest you wipe your mouth because its dribbling shit.

lol gang mentality again.

Try going back and reading my posts Eddie because its quite clear you have not.
Again is describing people better with nationalities and ethnicities or nationalities and colour.

So what colour do you want to introduce using your absurd view someone who is British Indian, British Pakistani, British Bangladeshi to define them as from different countries or is it better how I have just defined them?

lol gang mentality again.

What if the British Indian person had never been to India in his life?

What does that matter if they want to define themselves that way?

It is their ethnicity after all is it not?

You could say British Asian, which would be up to them, but that is one very big bracket is it not?

Look Nems, if you have not anything constructive to say, then I can only conclude you are shit stirring.

Why would she know better here on how it is better to define people?

That is my opinion against hers?

So please lets keep this as a debate and not some silly spat

Thank you

So Eddie why do you use colour to define some people and not others.

Why is there no colour used to define Asians for example?

Again can you answer please

So is there any merit in describing oneself as Anglo-Saxon rather than white, pink, or beige? That would avoid the issue of using a colour.
