Pet owners are abandoning their dogs to jet off on holiday, according to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
The pets home said that they have seen a huge increase in calls from owners wanting to renounce ownership of their pets in the first week of the summer holidays, compared with a normal week in May.
A shocking 204% rise in calls was recorded, which the charity believes is linked to people going on holiday and not having anyone to look after their dog or being able to afford boarding kennels.

half of our "pack" are rehomes/rescues

there is NO excuse......

How can you have a dog or cat for a number of years and just get rid of it because your going on holiday? If you can afford an holiday, budget a bit more and put your animal in kennels. [I couldn't do that, I would hate to worry about them]

Disgusting. Absolutely abhorrent actually.

It's like taking your children on holiday and leaving them in an apartment, alone and in the dark in a foreign country.....and buggering off out to have dinner.
