Thanks ladies. Was lovely. Went to the beach half hour away and went for a walk and on some rides - hilarious.

Re: The good night and good morning thread
55º this morning - humidity sitting right at 80% ...geeze mother nature, just go ahead and RAIN and release this horrible pressure
I'ts going to be in the mid 90's by noon time. LOVELY - Just LOVELY!

Really muggy round here too, but not to that extent thank goodness. You have to be a hardy lot in Kansas don't you!

Other Options:
(a) keep a heating & air conditioning repairman in your 'favorite chain of people' - bwahahahaha
(b) never - ever allow the electric bill to lapse
(c) learn to get up - get out and do those chores pre-mid day heat
(d) keep a damp rag draped around your neck if you absolutely have to be out in that
(e) doesn't matter how bad it makes your hair look - keep your head covered
(f) whine like a baby and just have a good 'bawl' ...releases those pent up frustrations about the weather
Just had a weather update
But on the serious side - heat indicia's are expected to be in our triple digits 110º
Guest- Guest
Re: The good night and good morning thread
I really couldn't cope. If it's 'dry' heat it's not so bad, I remember literally running down a road in California in temperatures of 104, but because it was dry heat I hardly noticed it. In Singapore, where the average humidity is 84% and can get up to 96%, if it got to a heat of 90 I was done for.
Love that weather forecast lol

Worst I have ever experienced was in Mombasa. Stiffling beyond belief and gasping for air. Coldest ever was on top of the Empire State Building in a January. Froze ma baws off.

Storm Front Built Up West of my area and just stalled out ...
When it finally started moving the amount of moisture it was dumping was
putting every county it covered in a 'FLOOD ADVISORY' ...that much rain
in an area for over an hour or more = flooded basements AGAIN.
It was a looooong - loud night, but we only lost power for barely 1 hour. I
appreciate those rural power employees - I just could not do their job.
But my basement's almost dry and it's 70º with 88% humidity with a expected
high of 110º ...the 2 poopers and I will be powering napping quite often
this fine day! Something like 6" of rain in 2½ hrs drenched my area last night.

Re: The good night and good morning thread
There's a RUMOR circling the internet/FB world that all of our horrible
weather is GOD's retribution for our utter stupid Gov. Brownbeck and
his method for screwing up or financial short fall for the worst of our
state's history. That and the way our state is loosing so many fine
education staff and college professors and being sued by the Federal
funding for NCLB ... might explain > > >
But IMO, if there really is a 'Sky Pilot' and he's got nothing
better to do then screw with the mental midget poloticians of KS ...then
he's not as all empowering as we've been led to believe!
Just another hot - humid day in the heartland and we've been
having many brown outs and low power drops ...makes those A/C
units struggle and then just QUIT. Heating & Air Conditioning
companies are getting loads of work ...I'm keeping my fingers crossed
that this 13 yr old unit hangs in there ...not in my budget to replace it.

Re: The good night and good morning thread
Sweet Dreams, and I so enjoyed the photo's about that lovely Peacock and that back lawn area ...when those Peacock/peahens start molting perhaps they'll leave a few of their bounty on your side of the fence! LOL
Dang ...I'd meant to come in here and wish everyone a 'Happy Fairy Day' ~~~ then I got all wrapped up reading all of the kerfuffle about the chaos/hysteria caused by Britain's jumping off of the EU and just plumb forgot.
So now that I'm off to my bed I'll put this image up here and say 'Salute' to the 'FAIRYS OF THE WORLD' and catch all of you in the morning - my time! LOL

Re: The good night and good morning thread
While we had our own little 'Green Acres' type of farm: pigs/cows/goats/chickens and all of the various aromatic good/bad/horrid smells that went with that growing up ...my cousins were just starting a lavender farm industry and other seedling type production farming, as well as turkey's!
She sent me this image via her FB page; just another opportunity to show me what I'd missed growing up, when she had such lovely aromatic smells {most of the time} and we were out cutting ensilage and packing that into the open silo for feeding the livestock through the winter - STINK - OMG
But this was such a pretty photo and their fields have just gotten huge as they've expanded their acreage over the many years.
Lavender - it's heaven scent to be sure!
The photographer is using this image in one of the Argi-calendars
and I can see why!

That is stunning. It's a simple flower but I love the look and smell of lavender.

I'll take the thunder storms over another night of fire workers~~~
Started raining around 4am and now we're in 'flash flood' advisories until Sunday evening until 7pm --- but that will mean -
No Night Time Fire Works again tonight!
And ...I had just finished mowing 90% of my yard before it started raining yesterday --- so I'm ok with it raining now.

Just as long as you don't have to bail out the basement again!

Oh, that's 'ALWAYS' a chore that will be necessary when we're in a 'flash flood' advisory - rain water hitting the ground that fast just finds those hair line cracks and seep lines right into my basement - despite the numerous patch jobs that I've made

WOW, what a long-long night sans any sleep!
The light green section on the Kansas map is right where the flooding is ongoing - have no idea how much rain we've received since Friday, but it's still coming down and I know how many gallons I've removed out of my basement! But it's been much cooler, and will remain in the 70's until Wednesday. When the heat returns and the humidity will kick back up with all of this moisture around - perfect breeding grounds for mosquito's.
At least we're not worried about grass fires due to drought and all of the fire works that start those fires, this year --- oh, no it's soggy-doggy out here in the heartland.
Power nap time for me, 5:15am.

Sass, understand the exhaustion bit, the only thing you can do is lie down for a couple of hours and hope it wears off.
