Latest poll says Hillary Clinton will be next U.S. president
Hillary Rodham Clinton is on track to become the first woman president of America, according to a WallStreet Journal/NBC News poll.
The poll was taken earlier this month in the days following Mrs. Clinton’s first official campaign rally. The results show that she is favored to win both the Democratic primary and the 2016 presidential election.
Three-quarters of Democratic primary voters said Clinton was their top pick to win the primary.
Her closest Democratic rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders got just 15 percent in the poll. Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley were picked by less than 5 percent of respondents.
Ninety-two percent of Democratic primary voters said they could see themselves supporting Clinton.
Politico reported:
The results represent a resurgence of sorts for Clinton after Sanders had appeared to close the gap slightly in recent months, though it should be noted that the poll was of American adults, not of registered or likely voters — and that polling averages are usually a better indicator of the true state of the race.
The poll also indicated that Clinton’s predicted success goes beyond just the Democratic nomination.
Out of the 1,000 likely voters polled on their opinions of potential presidential candidates from both parties, Clinton polled at 48 percent to 40 percent against the leading Republican contender, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
She polled at 50 percent against 40 percent against Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and 51 percent to 37 percent against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Nah, the U.S. will continue to get better. Obama had to spend a lot of the first few years helping the U.S. recover from the near-depression that Bush and his party wrought, and didn't have as much time to deal with actual forward progress such as immigration reform and civil rights. Clinton will inherit an economy that is doing much better and be able to tackle issues Obama didn't have enough time to get to.

That may be the case in the UK (to some extent between Labour and Tory), but not in the USA. The Republicans are increasingly more like UKIP and those kinds of tabloid chasing (or Fox news headline chasing in the American case) fruit loops are the sort we can all do without.
An American colleague of mine hopes to see Clinton become America's first female President- and I'm in agreement. So this is welcome news

The great thing about 2016 is that it is a presidential election year. That means voters turn out. The majority of American voters are anti-conservative, anti-Republican, hence when more turn out to the polls the left wins.
The real significance of the 2016 election is that we will be able to turn out the treasonous Republicans. I told Obama that Cheney should be prosecuted. Maybe Hillary will be smarter.

Back when he first entered office....sometime in 2009. It was during the time when he first coined the metaphor, moving forward.... He thought we should just ignore the war crimes. I told him: Sure, and let's let the insane out of the asylum, too!

1964, LBJ's (Democrat) War on Poverty begins. The U.S. poverty rate drops eight percent before the Ford (Republican) recession begins. Carter (D.) pulls it down a bit before it spikes sharply early in Reagan's (R.) era. Reagan pulls poverty back down briefly, not as low as it had been, but then it spikes again when his tax cuts for the wealthy are inherited by Bush I (R.).
Clinton (D.) pulls down the poverty rate by 4 percent before Bush II (R.) literally completely undoes that. Since Obama got into office (not on this chart), he's changed the trajectory to downward yet again.
Democrats are better at fighting poverty than Republicans, always have been.

Dean wrote:will you still say that as the middle east goes up in a nuclear inferno.
Absolutely. History doesn't take place in four-year increments. Go back to the beginning. The reason why the middle east blows up, if it does, is because of the idiots Bush and Cheney. Their egos mandated they go in and stir the pot in the middle east, and what do we have now--a rekindling of the Islamic civil war.
No question, but for race Obama must be judged one of the greatest leaders of the free world, ever. Racial motive is the one thing that brings out the animosities of conservatives and Republicans. But that black bile is held within; outside, Obama's performance has been nothing short of spectacular.
History shows that Dr. Obama has one of the highest ratings for a president at this point in his second term. And why wouldn’t he…he is one of the three best presidents the US has ever had. Consider the magnificent job he has done, under adverse circumstances no other president has ever faced.
The most recent Republicans (Bush and Cheney) left the country in an ugly, purposeless war, on the brink of a certain second great depression, with double-digit unemployment, a $17-trillion deficit and bin Laden still alive and plotting attacks on America.
Obama (1) got the country out of Iraq, (2) saved America from the next Depression, (3) brought unemployment down from 10.5% to 5.5%, (4) oversaw the creation of 5.5-million jobs, more than both Bushes:
eblog wrote:More net jobs have been created under Obama — 5,142,000 as of the August jobs report — than under George H.W. Bush — 2,637,000 — and George W. Bush — 1,282,000 — combined, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
Dr. Obama, (5) has overseen the American stock market soar to the highest ever (over $18,000) average on the Dow Jones Industrial Average index, and he has (6) created a highly successful medical care system (despite the false tears of Republicans) and (7) he got bin Laden...when the Republican administration was completely inept at even finding him (nudge, nudge, guys...he was over in Pakistan).
That's a hell of a record. Any one of those items would have made a legacy for most presidents. What’s more, Dr. Obama accomplished those things simultaneously.
Yet, what is more incredible, Obama performed all these successes in the face of an intentionally adverse opposition by the Republican Party in control of Congress, bent on seeing the United States of America destroyed rather that see a black man succeed. This is known as the McConnell/Boehner doctrine...the idea that conservatives would commit treason rather than see a black as president.
The only reason Republicans don't like Dr. Obama is because of his (half-African) race. Twice Republicans have refused to pass a budget, allowing a government shut-down to threaten the US credit rating…which would have cost billions of dollars to the public in increased interest. Some 56-times the Republicans have tried to eliminate Obamacare, leaving Americans to wonder why Republicans hate them so much they want their health to suffer. Republicans refuse to pass measures to improve highways and transportation, leaving the Republican Party to blame for May 2015’s Amtrak Rail crash in Philadelphia, which killed 8-people. While Republican lobbyists sleaze about for tax breaks, relaxed safety regulations and lucrative government contracts, school children go hungry and mothers cannot seek jobs because of the lack of daycare.
Still, like a true chess master Obama has turned the Republican’s own actions against them. Whereas post-war presidents from Truman to Bush allowed themselves to be pressured into foreign hostilities, one after the other, Dr. Obama used his knowledge of Constitutional law (he was a professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago) to turn Republican obstinacy and treason into his advantage: he pointed out that in the Constitution the war powers lie with Congress, and thus he strategically sat on his hands for a do-nothing Congress to act.
Congress has stirred about in confusion, with no response but to accuse the President of failing to lead. FGS...lead their lazy asses??? This has led to peals of public laughter, knowing that Republicans are dedicated to doing nothing anyway. OMG...how do you lead a dead elephant?? Lol.
That's a hell of a record. The only reason Republicans don't like him is because of his race. That's their problem. He's outsmarted them every day of the year and twice on Sunday.
With Donald Trump leading the parade, they'll be completely gone by 2024...thankfully.
