An open question for the rw'ers
Most of the Conservative giveaways appear to be unfunded.
How do you think Cameron will meet the estimated £25 billion cost?
I will start the ball rolling - a VAT hike of 2.5% will raise ......£20 biliion.

Re: An open question for the rw'ers
Well, he said before the last election, I will not raise VAT, there will be no top-down reorganisation of the NHS and many other things that as soon as he was elected he did, so that's about right HA.

And Labour left a note saying there was no money.
Hey ho. No one party is perfect but the fans will always find a way to blinker themselves.

Re: An open question for the rw'ers
So did Reginald Maudling - Maudling left a note to his successor, James Callaghan, simply stating "Good luck, old cock.... Sorry to leave it in such a mess." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reginald_Maudling ). I know people like Flop try to make a big thing out of it, but its actually a bit of a tradition for the Chancellor to leave a note saying it's all a mess.

There you go then. All as bad and good as eachother.
I realise we have to choose a "side" but let's not be blind to the faults of the side we also choose.
Fight your corner but also hold your hands up when your side makes a fuck-up.
That's all I'm saying.

I know it was a difficult question to answer, Eds, but I gave you a starter for 10.
How do you see the conservatives finding the money to fund their planned handouts?

Re: An open question for the rw'ers
I dont know what he's "got in mind"
a vat increase would certainly work
but he could
remove VED and run a road miles charging system, which seems fair to me ....
I mean why should I pay the same for doing 7,000 miles per year as someone who does 20,000???
now the simple way would be to remove VED altogether and put it onto petrol....based around someone doing 10,000 miles per year in a "mid band" vehicle paying roughly the same as now...
thats even fairer of course because those with the most economical (and hence most "green")vehicles will pay least, as will those who do less mileage....
millions could be "recouped" by allowing police to charge football clubs for policing
and the same for pubs and clubs...those who stay open past 11:00 at night should pay a levy towards the policing required to deal with the results of their drunken customers
those arrested and found guilty of offences should, on top of their "penalty" be forced to pay the full cost of the police action needed to nab em
coincident with that, they should release forthwith any and all prisoners guilty of non violent offences (and burglary DOES count as a violent offence)...I'm talking fraud here....
and make them pay the fraud back....
get the prison population down....
there are many ways
up the duty on tobacco??? though I think thats high enough
up the duty on alcohol (far more socially destructive)
legalise cannabis and subject it to a similar duty as tobacco
legalise prostitution and subject it to vat and duty.....
remove the state "aid" to religions (i.e remove their tax favourable status)
stop funding "religious schools"
as I say many ways
as to what he WILL do...well now there's a good question....
but what will millipede's lacky do i wonder to fund his giveaways.....

Absolutely agree with this Victor, I probably top 1500 miles a year if I'm lucky yet pay nearly £300 road tax

no dear idiot it aint, its because I grew up in a sensible era, when the nearest phone was a 10 min walk down the village, so you talked to people "face to face"
if i had something to say to my mate in the next village it waited till either i saw him at school OR I got on my bike and cycled the 10 miles.
And i dont find it necessary to be constantly "bothering" people with mindless chatter 24/7.
I dont feel the need to text all my friends with the news that the cat just shat in the corner
and other such garbage.....
I dont feel the need to send photos of my pub lunch to everyone and the world on face book
etc etc
The "chattering classes"
yep I'd go with that ...Bung a steep levy on every call and text.......

Vote UKIP!!!
Billions saved by scrapping HS2, getting out of EU, and reducing foreign aid budget.
Also need to scale back the quangos and govt/council hand outs to so called 'charities'.

Re: An open question for the rw'ers
Hi Tom,hope you are well.
Some of ukip's policies do stand up to scrutiny.
Farage's big problem is tht je is widely perceived as being a one trick pony and everything boils down to immingration/eu membership.
If he were to ease off with that particular bomardment and move onto other equally,if not more important issues such as funding the NHS, schools, housingpoverty and foodbanks, welfare benefits, bankers bonuses etc, he might attract the floating voter.
Until he does he will be stuck at around13% with less than a handful of MP's and will little more than a pressure group akin to the Greens.

Re: An open question for the rw'ers
80% of our laws are dictated to us by EU.
Plus free movement is a non negotiable part of EU so that allows mass uncontrolled immigration which in turn has a direct effect on everything else, housing, schools, roads, NHS, public transport etc.
So yes, everything does come down to The EU.
We cannot have control over our country And democracy restored until we leave the EU.
Maybe you could read this...
http://www.ukip.org/policies_for_people
And tell us which part/s you don't agree with?
