Here’s a question!
Imagine you’re making a film and you want Donald Trump elected as president for your plot. WHY would you want him there as part of your story?
Let me explain a little further. You are writing a film as though you’re trying to tell a story of corruption - so your main plot line is about the rich and powerful people who “run” the world. Your sole aim in this thread, as the film maker, is to explain your reason for ensuring Trump gets to be president. What are the reasons you need Trump elected?
I’d love to see some imaginative views.

Can I make a different movie? I'm not really feeling the vibe for this one.

because he is the epitome of rich and powerful, he exudes it.
as an aside, i became aware of Donald Trump when I was about 10 I suppose at that age I was reading magazines and vaguely aware of what was going on in the papers. I remember seeing a picture of him and his GF at the time Ivana standing beside a yacht on some location clearly for the mega rich. even back then i think i was aware if only on a subconscious level that money meant power.
plus he's complete marmite. whether you love him or loathe him, no one can deny he's made a huge impact.
you need a character like that for a good film
that is my opinion, not very creative i admit but there you are
that is all

Re: Here’s a question!
I'll give the reasons I think Trump was backed by the wealthy elite, along with why George W. Bush and every right-wing president since Reagan was backed by them:
* To slash their taxes, first and foremost
* To slash funding of programs that make people less dependent on the businesses run by the wealthy elite
* To possibly start a war, which would allow companies that service the military to profit
* Last but certainly not least, to keep the American public so divided that there's no way people will unite to organize and demonstrate against the wealthy elite for a better life, which would mean less profit for the wealthy elite
Sadly, this isn't a Hollywood movie -- it's the story of modern America.

I think your movie sucks.
And plenty of wealthy elites backing people of both parties.
Ever take an honest look at Hillary's campaign contributors.
The wealthy dont care who wins, as long as they have access.

You mean like a conspiracy? I don't think there was one. I think the Democrats ran a terrible candidate, yet she was still able to get more votes and Trump just got very, very lucky with the way the Electoral College played out. I don't think there's a wealthy cabal of people that want him there, but probably the opposite. He's too unpredictable for them

Nah I'm gonna be lazy here. I can afford to be, as far as Trump is concerned cos frankly the story writes itself.eddie wrote:Imagine you’re making a film and you want Donald Trump elected as president for your plot. WHY would you want him there as part of your story?

I highly doubt that the rich and powerful of America have any fear of what Trump might decide to do, because they know he's not going to hurt them.
The politicians feared by the wealthy elite in America are the Obamas, Clintons, Warrens, Sanderses, etc., because they're actually going to take money away from the wealthy elite if they get the chance. No Republican is ever, ever going to do that, and the rich know that.

Horseshit.
The rich never suffer under Democrats. They contribute too much money to them.

Then why do the rich spend so much money in campaign donations to Republicans, and anti-Democrat attack ads?
Why don't conservative-leaning news outlets like Fox run pieces exposing the network of billionaires pulling the strings of high-power Democratic candidates and officials?
Why do Republicans run on slashing taxes and benefits, along with supposedly onerous business regulations?
You're talking shit, man.

That's not the question he asked. He asked why does their money go to attack ads. They could, if they wanted, run ads promoting their policies, implying by comparison that they have better policies. But, no, they go to directly to moral attack on anyone who would dare oppose them.
Ben, I believe that it is because conservatives see politics as a 'grab and run' enterprise, and they are not serious as policy makers. They are in it for the money...fook the people.

Attack ads come from both sides,
Mudslinging is a bipartisan endeavor.

On the one hand, we have attack speech, and then we have rational speech. The normal criticism of attack ads is that they assume (and perhaps begin) as rational speech, and extend over to become attack speech.
But, what are we to do when what is real can only be described in attack words? That is, when an Administration is actually caging babies and torturing people in concentration camps, the words sound remarkably similar.
I don't think mudslinging is bipartisan, but the Republicans are neck deep in mud. How do fair minded people describe it without using the word mud?

Of course you don't think it's bipartisan. That's the problem. And for every one of you, there is someone on the right that feels the same way.
