Solar Eclipse
Hi folks. First of all thanks to Brasidas for the piece on Aborigine legends re meteor strikes. Fascinating stuff.
I don't know if you folks are aware but on Fri March 20th, beginning at about 08:45 there will be a full solar eclipse. It peaks at around 09:30. It will be visible from England but the best places to see it will be up North, down south it may only appear as partial.
I'm hoping it will not be cloudy and, if possible, will try to take some photos, but of course one must be careful of not only damaging your eyes, but the camera lens as well.
One negative concern is the eclipse will interupt power supplies that run on solar power. Those thousand of homes with solar panels may not be able to boil their kettles...

Re: Solar Eclipse
Was in Taunton for the last partial one, but can remember a full one when I was a little girl. Should be interesting.

Hi Eddie, it's what is known as a 'conjunction,' when various stars and planets are all in one line. ie: the Earth, Moon and Sun will all be in line, causing the Moon to be in front of the Sun as viewed from Earth, causing the eclipse.
