I like this. Here are the two honorees for today:

White House honoring scientists for Black History Month Katherinejohnson_1

Katherine Johnson -- a mathematician and physicist, she plotted the trajectory for Apollo 11, playing a critical role in the first-ever manned mission to the moon.

White House honoring scientists for Black History Month Lewis_latimer

Lewis Howard Latimer -- an engineer and inventor who developed the carbon filament for light bulbs, greatly extending their lifespan over the previously used paper filaments.

cool. I knew about Katherine Johnson but not Latimer. But I bet not a lot of people do.

I imagine that's true; I'm glad the effort is being made to remind the public about such important figures. It's also nice to show the critics of BHM that it's not all about making white people feel bad Smile
