‘Public smooching is terrorism’

CAMPAIGN group “The Revolutionary Alliance of Men that Women find Unattractive” has marched against Valentine’s Day.
Japanese protesters Kakuhido despise PDAs, announcing on their website that “public smooching is terrorism”.
But they hate the Feast of Saint Valentine even more, calling the annual celebration of romance “passion-based capitalism”.
“The blood-soaked conspiracy of Valentine’s Day, driven by the oppressive chocolate capitalists, has arrived once again,” Kakuhido’s website reads.

The protesters chanted, “Don’t be duped by the conspiracy of chocolate makers!” as they marched through the busy streets of Tokyo waving banners yesterday,
Valentine’s Day in Japan is a huge money-spinner for the confectionery business as women are traditionally expected to buy chocolates for the men in their lives — from partners to colleagues and bosses.
Men reciprocate a month later on White Day, a Japanese marketing brainwave dreamt up by confectioners in the 1980s to keep the cash tills ringing.
“We will also be protesting White Day,” said chairman Mark Waters, who wore a pink scarf over his face, white helmet and sunglasses. “And Christmas.”

Waters, one of only around 10 marchers, added: “The name of our organisation is a parody but it does have a serious message.”
