Grandfather's body could be exhumed after relatives of Muslim buried alongside complain he was an unbeliever

Local authority in Leicestershire tells the family of Shadrack Smith, 89, he might be moved to another plot after complaints from a Muslim family.

Chris Grayling, the Justice Secretary, could be dragged into a messy legal battle after a Muslim family demanded that a “non-believer” who was buried next to their relation be exhumed for religious reasons.The unnamed Muslim family raised objections after an 89-year-old Roman Catholic man was buried in a plot adjacent to their relation.Shadrack Smith was buried in the multi-denominational Lychgate Lane Cemetery in Burbage, Leics, following his funeral on Jan 30. Mr Smith had lived in an official gipsy camp in nearby Aston Firs for more than 20 years, and in excess of 400 relations and friends attended his funeral.

This has got to be a joke right? For fuck sake, they are dead. Let the all rest in peace. I mean religious apartheid even in death, how utterly stupid and the Muslim family should be ashamed of themselves as it this kind of idiocy that creates further tension in our country.

Multiculturalism implies that individuals of all cultures will, and should, be right at times and wrong at times. It's on those of us who believe it's a worthy goal to discern when anyone, from any culture, is wrong ... and this case is one of those times, in the case of this anonymous family

It's just as bigoted to consider people from a certain (fallibly designated) group as always right as it is to consider them always wrong.

Ben this whole story is wrong, let the dead rest in peacde and this is why religion is such a crock of shit. I mean seriously demanding someone deceased be dug and moved over such idiotic religious apartheid rulling.
