Isis militants are 'using mentally challenged children as suicide bombers and crucifying others', says UN body

Isis militants are using children – including those with mental health problems – as suicide bombers and human shields, according to experts from a UN watchdog. Officials believe some of the youngsters may have little or no idea what is happening to them.

A report published on Wednesday said the militants were selling abducted children as sex slaves and killing others, including by means of crucifixion and burying them alive. Children from minority communities were particularly vulnerable.

“We have had reports of children, especially children who are mentally challenged, who have been used as suicide bombers, most probably without them even understanding,” expert Renate Winter told Reuters.

“There was a video placed online that showed children at a very young age, approximately eight years of age and younger, to be trained already to become child soldiers.”

Ms Winter, a member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was one of 18 independent experts who helped compile the report that revealed stark and widespread abuse of children in areas controlled by the militants.

And we sit back and allow this to happen when we can do something about it.
Assad maybe be a tyrant, but the west have screwed up here when they should be supporting him to eradicate ISIS. All other gorups should be brought together with Assad to rid the most pressing threat which is ISIS. As they say, my enemies enemy is my friend.

You can't win a war with air power alone, you need "boots on the ground" to take land and hold it, otherwise the enemy will just come back and retake the ground that air power gained. Why are we tip-toeing around taking out a few hundred with air power when there an estimated 50 thousand or more murdering and raping with impunity. ?

We are so lucky the US is not in the position of the UK.  Republicans in Congress will never vote for anything that Obama wants.  The formula is simple, Mr. President: just ask for what you don’t want, and its opposite will be delivered—

But the top Republican in Congress warned it won't be easy to pass the measure and that it will be up to Obama to rally support from lawmakers and the public.

"His actions are going to be an important part of trying for us to get the votes to actually pass an authorization," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Thursday. "This is not going to be an easy lift."

Lift lightly, my dear Mr. Obama.  Go easy on the deltoids.  Don’t wanna tear a bicep.

See Tories and Republicans, it pays to develop the capacity to reason.  Obama has simply to ask for the troops on the ground in order to guarantee that the US will never have troops on the ground!  It’s in the bag.
