Cambridge boy, 7, is battling cancer but his mother is furious after his benefits were stopped
A 7-year-old Cambridge boy is battling with a devastating cancer – but his disability benefits have been stopped forcing his mother to go without food.
And devoted mum Ruth Miller, 39, has faced eviction and struggles to pay for heating as she and her husband Kevin, 42, of Thorpe Way, Abbey, have been battling with the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) since May for disability living allowance for their son Tommi.
The couple, who have a daughter Kacey, 8, and 16-year-old Kharis, have been forced to give up their jobs to care for Tommi but have been left to struggle without the allowance.
Little Tommi faces another two years of gruelling chemotherapy because the devastating condition returned in September after he was given the all clear in May.

Absolutely shocking and the DWP should be ashamed of themselves.

From the same link:
As a disabled person myself, in the case above, the DWP are in the right here unfortunately. Remission is classed as change of circumstance which would mean that the level of DLA paid would be lowered or stopped depending on the level of care required by the child. Going by the information that is on the 3rd page of the Governements website, it clearly states: "DLA can't be backdated. The date of your claim will usually be the date the form is received or the date you call the enquiry line (if you return the claim pack within 6 weeks)." So if the claim was reapplied for in September, then the DLA would start from then, rather than May when the previous claim ended. The DWP are not doing this simply to "get out of paying" but following the exact guidelines of claiming.

Is this Cambridge MA? The British have NHS, so it can't be England.
What am I missing?

the NHS is for TREATMENT ...this is a claim for "cash" assistance...I.e money paid by the state to people with medical problems to help with the extra cost of dealing with that problem....Like extra carers extra transport costs etc etc etc

Some further detail on this case. The length of time this has been going on is a disgrace.
