disgusting attempt by establishment leaders to exploit french tragedy for political ends
In a condemnable attempt to gain political kudos, Britains establishment leaders united to attack a minority leaders perfectly reasonable comments on the murderous events in France
Tories including David Cameron and Theresa May joined Labour's Dame Tessa Jowell and Lib Dem Nick Clegg in condemning Mr Farage for a “sickening” attempt to exploit the atrocity for his own political benefit.
We've got people living in these countries, holding our passports, who hate us
Nigel Farage, Ukip leader
Mr Farage used a string of TV and Radio interviews to air his remarks, adding that there was a “fifth column” living in Britain and France responsible for terrorist attacks.
First he told Channel 4 News: "There is a very strong argument that says that what happened in Paris is a result - and we've seen it in London too - is a result I'm afraid of now having a fifth column living within these countries.
"We've got people living in these countries, holding our passports, who hate us."
He repeated the message on LBC Radio, saying: “What should have been done is we should have had a controlled immigration policy and made sure we did full checks on everybody who ever came to this country from anywhere - and that applies to everyone else.
“We in Britain, and I’ve seen evidence in other European countries too, have pursued a really rather gross policy of multi-culturalism. We have encouraged people who come from different cultures to remain within those cultures, and not to integrate fully within our communities.”
On a visit to Manchester, Mr Cameron said: “Today is not the day to make political remarks or arguments. (so why did he??)
“Today is the day to stand four-square behind the French people.”

A disgusting attempt to stifle free speech and freedom of opinion by the British establishment. Does anyone else smell the stench of rabid hypocrisy
or is everyone going to jump blindly and thoughtlessly to their defence ( I know BRA will fail to see the irony....)

Agree
Much like the original cartoons, I have seen some statements (that are still reasonable and probably have some basis to them) from European Muslims that may not be the wisest at this time but they should allowed to make them.
And Really some that are the hardest to hear probably do need to be looked in to the most, and also the most important to validate... I mean part of the reason for free speech is also that 'dissent can be voiced' rather than violent actions taken, So by Voicing their concerns they are behaving correctly for a free secular society.

Re: disgusting attempt by establishment leaders to exploit french tragedy for political ends
First point that is idiotic, how is free speech being stifled?
Never was, a false acclamation to incite anger
Second point and the most important and disgusting, Nigel farge using such an attack to again stoke up fear.
Well there are 2.9 million Muslims in this country and for a religion that has no fear of martyrdom, I find it very strange our streets are not littered in rivers of blood.
People like Farage are first class idiots, who use such invents to bring this country backwards to use an event like this to instill fear. So why is it with so many Muslims we have had only limited attacks?

No what farage does is whip up anger on his own country with no thought for the people, to the point he is in fact trying to divide the nation. He does this by making people suspicious of Muslims, which you are a sheep to.

Re: disgusting attempt by establishment leaders to exploit french tragedy for political ends
hey look...I cant help it if you are so stupid you dont realise that it matters not one bit what farage said......
(even though he is IMO correct in saying there is (at least now) a fifth column here ...)
what matters is that instead of ignoring it the top monkeys have to make capital out of it (thus creating a self made hypocrisy) and by extension attempting to silence farage under a tirade of united and unwarranted abuse (thus providing the irony (since silencing freedom odf expresssion is exactly what those nut jobs were about)
some time you can be sooooo stoooopid in your blindness to toe the party line....

Re: disgusting attempt by establishment leaders to exploit french tragedy for political ends
Have to laugh at a fifth column, that is paranoia as well.
Farge is the one person in this country trying to bring it backwards
He uses fear to entice hate, neglecting real problems in this country, thinking people speaking in a foreign language is so bad, even though his wife is German.
That is an inane view some English people have expecting everyone to speak English
His views are of something that we left behind 50 years ago.
Einstein said, insanity, is doing the same thing over again expecting different results.
