ARMED men are holding 40 to 50 people hostage at a cafe in Martin Place in Sydney.

There are reports that two gunman have taken hostages, some of which are standing with their hands up at the windows in the popular Lindt chocolate shop, which has two or three entrances. There is also a black and white flag being held up in a window. It is believed to be the Black Standard, a jihadist flag.

Lindt Australia CEO Steve Loane told news.com.au he believes there are 40 to 50 people inside the cafe, including customers and staff.

The government’s National Security Committee of Cabinet has met for briefings on the situation this morning.

In a statement, Tony Abbott said he had also spoken with NSW Premier Mike Baird and “offered him all possible Commonwealth support and assistance”.

“This is obviously a deeply concerning incident but all Australians should be reassured that our law enforcement and security agencies are well trained and equipped and are responding in a thorough and professional manner,” he said.

AND they are all IDIOTS. A Gun wont defend you.. the USA proves that more guns equals more gun crime, victims of crime that carry guns are literally 100's of times more likely to end up dead .

SO If you think you have a gun for defence BY definition you are not responsible enough to own a gun. And probably should get some maths lessons, you literally have to think that 30,000 is lower than 50 to think Gun do anything but cause death.

ANOTHER statistic from the American "guns for self defense" situation ~

ONLY 2% of the shooting incidents when a gun toting private citizen discharges his/her weapon at a suspected criminal, or during a criminal act, or when being threatened, actually results in the criminal being shot (not necessarily killed) !!!

MOST of the time, the shots go wild - into furniture, walls, street furniture and trees, or disappearing into the distance..

THE most likely person to be shot is the gun-toting 'would-be-hero' citizen him/herself !   THE #1 victim is more likely to be the gunman shooting herself in the foot, leg or hand !    

THE second group of likely victims is the gunman's own family members, neighbours or other innocent bystanders..

THE criminal that the gun owner is aiming for is in truth in a very distant 3rd place !!!


THE PUSH for slacker gun laws in Oz this week actually started two days ago with the Federal cross-bench independent Senator David Leyonjhelm (he actually belongs to the fringe "Liberal Democrats" party ~ but they're really more a collective of fringe conservative-extremists and nutters, rather than a genuine political movement ~ as they are more "licorice allsorts" politicians, rather than sharing any common agendas..),  claiming that if Aussies were allowed to carry concealed handguns, than one of Monday's hostages could have shot the terrorist !      

DESPITE everything that Leyonjhelm claims having been proved a pack of lies since, yesterday his outbursts had still successfully acted as the 'trigger' for various gun nuts, racists and fascists to finally come out and hit the various media outlets..

AND four anti-Islam/anti-Immigration loons felt brave enough as to protest at the makeshift floral "shrine" in Martin Place yesterday (Friday) afternoon !  

Perhaps Mr. Leyonjhelm would accept legalizing everyone carrying a stick of dynamite.

It would be sure to nail the terrorist.  'Bout the same as a gun with the others present, too.
