Wow...

Panick's double play! Even the umpires couldn't bring themselves to believe it...had to be told by New York.

Is Bumgarner great? Two days rest, and still unhittable.

Sandoval? If they don't sign him next year, I don't know. Evil or Very Mad

cheers cheers

That was Panick's double play, where he tossed the ball with the glove hand.

Did not see it! I was too busy watching FC Dallas beat Vancouver to advance in the MLS playoffs ...

Say, how'd ol' San Jose do again? Smile

Michel took his time, enjoyed this and tortured the keeper quite a bit ...

What's that you say? The Earthquakes are coached by an interim manager and play at a university's stadium?

Sandoval, 28, wants 5-years and $90-million, same as Pence, who is 30. I don't know if the Giants can afford it. On the other hand, Sandoval says he wants to win and it will be hard to leave a team that has had three World Series titles in 5-years. Let's see...how is the weather in Boston?

The Red Sox do indeed have their eye on Sandoval. They are badly in need of a productive third-baseman. The Red Sox are also looking at Chase Headley, but are the Yankees going to let that happens. Horrors! The hated Rex Sox??. Aramis Ramirez is also a consideration for Boston, but will the Brewers allow it as well?

Pence is in no way worth that. And if the Yankees and Sox are fighting over Chase Headley ... that's just sad.

I would agree.  At 30, Pence is worth far less than Sandoval.  But how many hits did Pence get this series?  Impressive.

Most of these teams are affiliated with large corporations these days.  For example, the Oakland Athletics---Levi Strauss Co. (a San Francisco company).  The San Francisco Giants---Safeway Stores, Inc. (a Pleasanton company and 2nd-largest retail chain in the country).  They may be just family connections, but trust me, they all have resources over yonder.

Sandoval was tendered a qualifying offer of $15.3-million for one year by the San Francisco Giants. He is seeking a 6-year deal...of course, a qualifying offer is always a 1-year deal, because it must be based upon the mean of the best salaries in the league.

So, today Sandoval visits Boston.
