A satisfying trip Empty A satisfying trip

Post by stardesk Mon Sep 22, 2014 2:40 pm

Hi folks. I've just made a very satisfying trip, as follows:
Across to Baconsthorpe, in mid Norfolk.
Down to Egham, in Surrey.
Across to Chippenham, in Wilts.
On further to Pandy, in Monmouthshire.
And finished up at Fulham!

Get it???

What sort of trip can you organise?

Now if only you had let me know what you were planning I could have met you for coffee - Wiltshire is my neck of the woods.

I would start at Ham House in London
then get to Rye, Kent
before ending up in Sandwich.
If I was still hungry, I would make sure to finish up
in (meal) Deal

Right Sphinx, coffee it is, I'm on my way. Americano with plenty of sugar.

Cass, a ham sandwish sounds nice, not sure about the rye. Go down well with the coffee.

I solved the Middle East crisis without leaving Texas: first, of course, I went to Palestine. Next on the list was Lebanon. I also made stops in three places in Egypt and in Turkey. Finally, we signed the treaty -- in Paris, obviously ...

This year I'll spend Christmas (Gila county) in my home state of Arizona. Maybe I'll go see Santa Claus (Mojave county). I want see Snowflake (Yavapi county) and ring a Bell (Navajo county).
But Mr. C will say Bah Humbug (Yavapi county) so we'll have to stay at home and eat Partridge (Santa Cruz county) and to hell with the Peartree (Kentucky) as everyone knows its too expensive to fly during the holidays ......

Just don't cross any Texans along the way, they might Hoop and Holler and take you to Gun Barrel City, and you might find yourself in the hands of people who just Cut and Shoot! Ding Dong.

It's Old English for farm/homestead. I had to look it up, I figured it was short for "hamlet."

That's quite right, Ham is short for Hamlet. Obviously many years ago small Hamlets, villages, became more populated and grew into cities, such as BirmingHAM, and many others finishing with the ham.

And then there was a girl named Robin, who looked gorgeous in her red top. But, oh dear, she liked her drink and was often as high as a Kite. On a good day she'd look for bargains and scoop them up like a Magpie, and feather her comfy nest.

Baconsthorpe goes back to 1086. It was a farmstead owned by a family named Bacon. The name Bacon would seem to be of Norman origin. The name Thorpe derives from Old English, Old Saxon, Old Norse, all meaning a village or hamlet.

Because I'm a LA Woman, I took the Midnight Train to Georgia to cure my Union City Blues. When I arrived I checked into the Hotel California and as I snuggled into bed, I read The Fairytale of New York.

In the morning I felt much better do I asked the hotel clerk Do You Know The Way to San Jose because I want to go see my grandmother who is the Little Old Lady from Pasadena. He got me a map and showed me how to go All The Way To Reno without stopping. So I headed off.

After nearly falling asleep at the wheel and getting a speeding ticket going through Nutbush City Limits, I picked up a hitchhicker to keep me company. He said he was a Witicha Lineman. He wanted to strike it big at the casinos and catch a show, so I dropped him off and then when I was Leaving Las Vegas I started some California Dreaming till I joined the Ventura Highway. I was 99 miles from LA when I thought I had better head north because I Left My Heart in San Francisco.

Just remember if you're Leaving On a Jet Plane, make sure you get a Ticket to Ride first. Instead of being the Eye in the Sky, you could end up with the Folsom Prison Blues.
