Just had the AVG warning pop up 3 times in a row
Saying thread detected JS/Fake codec or something??

Nems I just had the exact same thing! My AVG thing had a turn.

I will have to turn the notifications off. There may be skullduggery about,doesn't mean I want to be informed!

Sounds like somebody has put some malicious code in a picture or post. Forumotions own safeguards are supposed to stop it in posts but there are always ways around it.

I suggest people keep their notifications on and do what their anti virus says. It sounds like they are simply blocking the code to prevent it and letting you know so you can choose to avoid the page if you so wish.

The stuff to worry about is the stuff that does not set the anti virus off.

I never have had'virus fake codec' before ,infact I rarely have anything at all.

I think you are right Sphinx. Any way no harm done, my AVG has sorted it, no damage to computer, no hissy fit and running to Forumotion for me ::D::

It wont necessarily be that specific - it could be hidden in an avatar photo or something.

From my limited knowledge of these things, it might have been a dodgy ad that Forumotion is hosting that caused this.

None of the admins are in the business of uploading viruses to the site.

None of us could, and I doubt very many people in the world could, target a specific member with a virus.
