The new lady in charge of Surrey Police in the UK has come out fighting on professional dress and appearance. Police officers will no longer be able to turn up for work looking like a DEA undercover cop or South American drug cartel specialist, form now on it has to be a pressed shirt with a tie and suit trousers. This includes the back office support staff at the Stations.

More surprisingly is the clamp down on tattoos which were once the mark of working class dockers, dustbin men and low ranked sailors. All tattoos must be covered at all times and if this means wearing a long sleeved shirt in hot weather - so be it. Face, neck and hand tattoos are not allowed.

Quite right too I say. UK Surrey Police and Tattoos Iagree

When i first left school i worked for the civil service and we were allowed to wear what we wanted and i used to love that!....We were allowed to smoke in the office as well and that was very good as well! Smile

It's the same in local government as well although the job centre staff have been required to smarten up a bit!

I think that they have even got rid of dress down Friday lol!
