The Hate Thread
First topic message reminder :
I've never seen anyone make a thread about things they hate. Maybe we all just want to live in Eddie's little sheep painting (
), but I've always been interested in the things other people hate -- beyond the obvious.
So here are the (non-obvious) things I hate; feel free to join in the hate-fest!
Anything done by singer-songwriter Jewel.
People who are polite in personal situations (i.e. restaurants) but act like bastards in impersonal situations (i.e. while driving).
Seafood.
Wine coolers.
Musicians who imitate other musicians without openly acknowledging it.
Bad guys on TV or movies who turn into good guys at the end, especially when they were awesome bad guys to begin with.
People who socialize in grocery stores while others are trying to fucking shop (i.e. navigate their carts and be done in a timely manner).
People who hint at the point they're trying to make instead of for-God's-sake MAKING it.
People who like things (apparently) for the sole reason that a lot of other people like them.
People who hate things (apparently) for the sole reason that a lot of other people like them.
I should probably stop here ...

I also hate people that pretend to be something they're not.
Those that throw stones in their very own crystal house.

It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get.

Agreed Scrat.
And hating other people who have wronged you credits them with an importance they don't merit.
As an aside I am not too fond of parcel delivery companies who go away with your parcel because you are not in.
Why not leave it in the porch or through the letterbox??
I also detest celery.

Tonight I had fish and chips with a side salad, for tea...
With black pepper, salad dressing AND VINEGAR..
FOR Nems and Ben, I have an old saying that may be apt for you two : "Don't eat fresh seafood if you can't see the ocean/sea from where you are !"![]()
I live near the coast, Lake and estuaries, and there are professional fish co-ops reasonably close..
AS for mangoes ~ they grow well around here, but a lot better again a few hours north where they don't have the winters to interrupt their activities. The only reason i don't have a mango in the backyard is that I simply don't have the space for one (some mature trees that I have seen had a spread of over 30 m/100 feet !). Even then, when the mango season is well under way down here, you can buy them for only a dollar or two each for big fresh specimens, especially if you buy them by the tray or box (holds two or three trays..).

Hmm I do something like that - if I didnt catch it I dont eat it as far as fish go.

I like shellfish!!
I've done my list but here's one that I really really hate:
Stickers on things when you buy them!!!! They don't come off!!!! You,have to soak everything (if it isn't too, big) to get the sticker off and it leaves a residue FOREVER!!!
There was a sticky label on my new cooker once - telling me the oven door was heatproof!! WHAT THE FUCK?????
I can still see the residue and it still bugs me.

+1 I know every great seafood restaurant in the US, and they are all right next to the ocean. Of course, tops on the list of seafood cities are New Orleans and San Francisco in the US, and maybe the greatest seafood city in the world, Lisbon, Portugal. It's the home of the black lobster. :::cass:::

Nice! I once had a supervisor who worked for the Chronicle -- this conservative member of the media (audience: gasp!) used to piss and moan about the union influence out there. And yet ... higher paper quality. I choose to believe it's because of all those lazy awful union members

Re: The Hate Thread
Oh no, I won't. SF is a strong union town. More than likely it is due to them.

Well I dont hate but really dont like very much those that pass judgement on things without taking the effort to check if that which they are basing their judgement on is actually the case.

We've made so many blunders over the years in the way we do business -- one time we had readers calling in and complaining that we'd made our TV listings too small and they were impossible to read. So we tried sending them one of these:
![The Hate Thread - Page 3 Credit%20Card%20Magnifier2](https://2img.net/h/www.bristolid.com/Data/Images/Credit%20Card%20Magnifier2.jpg)
Needless to say, the people who got a company-branded magnifier in the mail in response to saying they couldn't read the paper were even angrier

There is a great restaurant on Camelback Rd. in Phoenix...or used to be.
It's just called FISH. Right off the Squall Peak Parkway. Seafood is flown in daily from coastal markets.
But they are obviously west coast. Prawns from the Sea or Cortez are not near as plump and tasty as from the Gulf of Mexico, for example. But then, there's no petrale sole on the east coast.
The African black lobser is the best in the world. Much better than the Maine lobster.
