Ben,not that it bothers me,because I hardly post here or on Inaflap anymore but.....having read through all this garbage about hacking between Flap & this site I can tell you what will happen next.

This site will go the same way...It will crash & burn.

Unfortunately Ben,it's what always happens because the same old names are in the thick of it.Same old names.Same old routine.Same old thing.

No, either way you were correct because you used the past tense in each case. The only difference is that in any French-based language, the direct verb connotes action, while the conditional connotes status. For example:

I ran = action of running. I have run = the status of having run.

What can I say...I loved languages in school.

The way it actually appeared was in two forms of past tense.

We told Benji-boy in the first few weeks the way things would go - the loony left would tear this place apart, and just like they did elsewhere, it doesn't involve the evil right, they just do it amongst themselves, all the time.

I don't "take sides." I agree with some people sometimes and disagree with them at other times. You can ask Sassy, she and I don't always see eye to eye. We do agree on a lot. I used to get along with Nems quite well for that matter; if you ask her and she's honest, I've been perfectly friendly with her.

Then she decided I was protecting Phil and, despite all that's gone on since, she's got this narrative about me now -- I'm a bad guy -- and she's chomped down on it and won't let go.

I answer what's said to me on a moment-by-moment basis. I'd be happy to bury the hatchet. But I can't argue with someone who has me "all figured out" and I'm not obliged to ignore it when someone has a go at me. I do that a lot more than you might realize already.
