This Australian is Whack, Yo
I'm sorry, she starts with "First thing first, I'm the realest" and yet she's about as far from "real" as it gets! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iggy_Azalea
She reminds me a bit of my 19-year-old cousin, though. We had a family gathering a few years ago and the cousin I'm referring to said, "You know what my high school is full of?"
My older cousin didn't miss a beat -- "White girls who talk like they're black?"
Re: This Australian is Whack, Yo
For the sake of fairness, I should add that I don't think the Brits really get it right, either:

Over the years I've developed quite the knack for finding some of the weirdest shit ... ::D::
Check out this one when you get the chance:
We might think that the world is a cruel place now, but millions of years ago the dinosaurs lived in a world without mercy, "a freakish, hellish nightmare world drenched in the blood and gore of violence, death and destruction" inhabited by "abnormal, grotesque creatures and monstrosities" hellbent on destruction. It was a world invented by the Devil himself, according to Damien Royce and Jason Zolot, the authors of Did God Destroy the Dinosaurs?
While millions of dinosaur lovers everywhere delight in their gigantic proportions and sometimes comical physiognomies, Royce and Zolot are deeply disturbed by them. "Even a cursory examination of the facts," they write, "produces the distinct feeling that something was just not right with the dinosaurs and the related reptiles of the air and sea. It is as if they were not of this world and did not belong in it. It is as if they were travesties of Nature, monstrous caricatures of other creatures and of life itself--the result of some obscene joke played by some perverted prankster." It was the most perverted prankster of all, Satan, who created these travesties and, in his insatiable perversity, became one himself.
The authors, horrified at this bizarre scenario, are more than the saurophobic Satan-bashers that they seem to be. They are also theologians who take the time to carefully argue their case, with due consideration to science, as well as the history of religious beliefs. Their inevitable conclusion--that Satan created the dinosaurs and that God destroyed them--is a reconciliation, they claim, between science and the Bible.

Re: This Australian is Whack, Yo
Dude, she was on YOUR upside-down TV too:
It's funny, I've had a few encounters with Aussies who've been living here for a while, including this gentleman just today:
(PGA golfer Stuart Deane)
He's originally from Brisbane but has been here since the late 90s, I asked him if his family back home tells him he sounds more American now and he said that he finds his accent changing depending on who he's talking to. Mind you, I could tell he was Australian from the moment he said "hi."
And then there are the Australian actors on U.S. shows who don't seem to have a trace of their former accent -- Portia De Rossi and Anthony LaPaglia spring to mind. I thought LaPaglia was from somewhere like New York until I found out he was from Adelaide.

Here you go:
Brought to you by the best white Albino Black Muslim American rapper alive!
Or if you prefer the classics:

Re: This Australian is Whack, Yo
I liked that, especially hearing Eso use his real accent; I was wondering how an Australian would sound rapping with his/her real accent and he makes it work!
I wonder if it's a total accident that the group name is kind of a multilingual play on words? "Eso" is "That" in Spanish, so translate it and you have "Bliss and That" (rhyming with "This and That").

Re: This Australian is Whack, Yo
Not Sure, one is Moroccan so maybe
The trio, American MC Bliss (Jonathan Notley), Australian MC Eso (Max MacKinnon) and DJ Izm (Tarik Ejjamai) who is Arabian, of Moroccan heritage, have been friends (and have rapped together) since high school.[2] Notley moved to Australia in 1992 when he was thirteen and met MacKinnon at the Glenaeon Steiner School in Sydney.

Yeah, I caught Bliss rapping about being teased at school for having an accent -- we Yanks don't often think of ourselves as having one, like ours is "default" or something I guess that attitude exists everywhere to some extent, though.

actually that is something we don't have
All Aussie have the same accent (more or less, it gets a git stronger in rural areas) even if we come from cities a 1000 miles apart
not like you guys... each state gets it own voice

Bliss N Eso went to South Africa for the Make Poverty History / Schools4Schools program. While over there they filmed this video for the first single of the Flying Colours album which is due for release on the 26th April 2008. 100% of all profits made from this single goes to the Oaktree Foundation to help aid poverty stricken communities in South Africa. Together we can really make a difference.

Re: This Australian is Whack, Yo
Interesting article on Joelistics, I don't know if you knew, but Eminem tried to be a quote-unquote positive rapper earlier in his career (probably mid-90s). It didn't take and hardly anybody talks about it now ...
After his "positive-rap" debut failed he went to a darker place and started writing what ended up becoming 'The Slim Shady LP,' and rocketed to stardom. I thought it was U.S. thing; Oasis never hit big over here with any of their upbeat singles, but a lot of their more melancholy ones charted really well. Maybe it's just people not wanting a bunch of smoke blown up their asses
