... it's ridiculously expensive, but they were offering it on a five-month installment plan so I had to take the plunge.

Has anybody else here used it? I'm interested in how fast I should be going; I've already done a few lessons and they seem quite easy, but I don't want to go too fast, either.

Learning Espanol, by the way. Hola! Smile

I haven't used it. Several years ago I saw it on several pirate sites, but I never downloaded it. I took three years of high school Spanish, but if you don't use it in everyday conversation you lose it.

I hope it works well for you. I assume it is proper Spanish. That's what I learned in school. The language "on the street" is different, just like with any language. There are variations and dialects depending on what country and what neighborhood you are in.

Yeah, I got Latin American Spanish. At first it felt ridiculously easy, but it's getting more and more challenging -- might take me longer than I'd expected.

It will help if you have a Spanish speaking friend you can practice on.

Plenty of friends and neighbors who do, but I'd like to get a little bit of a foundation before I try!

Part of the problem is when I learn things that appear to contradict stuff I already knew. For example, RS introduces words via context, and sometimes that can be a bit ambiguous, so I was confused when I saw "pequeno" for small when I already new "poco" and "poquito." So I've been googling little questions like this; turns out pequeno is small in stature or size, while poco is a small amount. That's a rather important distinction! I don't want to say "a bit" when I mean "tiny" or vice-versa.

It's been here in England for ages and is very popular with children(or the parents of children who wish them to speak another language). It is very expensive but I'm told it's the best one there is.

Dunno about NASA, but it is used by the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marines and Dept. of State.
