Labour plans big rise in NHS spending
Labour is drawing up plans to go into the next election with a manifesto pledge to increase NHS spending significantly should the party be returned to power, The Independent can reveal. Ed Miliband and Ed Balls are examining options for how Labour could fund additional investment in health over and above current spending plans. Shadow Cabinet sources said no decision had yet been taken on how to fund the pledge, although one option is to introduce a ring-fenced rise in national insurance (NI) contributions both for employers and employees. This would mirror Gordon Brown’s raising of NI by 1 per cent in 2002 to fund Labour’s last expansion of the NHS.

Hmmm - clever.
Milliband: Let's take even more money out of struggling workers' pay packets to pay for even more 'managers' and bureaucrats. We could end up with four managers for each nurse...
Balls: What about the patients?
Milliband: Well with more managers and more chaos they'll just starve to death quicker and cut the numbers down.
Balls: How much should we take out of the people's pay packets?
Milliband: Plenty - then they'll get into debt, the firms will go bust and we'll have even more people on the dole who'll vote for us forever!
Balls: But who'll pay the NI stamps then?
Milliband: Oh you're such a spoilsport. Keep it up and I'll scweam and scweam until I'm thick...

Labour have in the past been committed to in spending heavily in the NHS Tess, and I don't see why they won't keep their promise again,,it's just a shame that Ed is not a good talker and can seem quite unconvincing at times, but my confidence has grown in him.

That's alright then JD. Knowing he has the thumbs up from one of Scotlands greatest intellects will make his life so much easier.
Might I remind you Ed has made every wrong call on the conomy since coming to power. He suggested we should go for punitive taxation like Hollande look what happened when that was tried. They have lost billions!! How do you finance more spending with less money???
You are economically illiterate JD. Labour always always bust the economy by spend spend spend.
Moreover as Tess says we expanded the admin and management staff far faster then actual medics.
Fucking brain dead lefties are the greatest threat to the NHS not radical Tories.

And labours PFI hospital deals have drained billions out of The NHS budget, causing cuts and services closing.

Re: Labour plans big rise in NHS spending
Truly I wonder how lefties can breathe and type simultaneously.
Just where do they think they can find this money when we still havent balanced the books. They have been saying borrow more but at what point do they think we cant. What will the NHS be in twenty years when this current generation of left wing idiots have spent the budgets for the next twenty years.
Thickos and proud of being so it seems.

A Tory concept that they signed up to and they are charging on with it full throttle now even though they have been warned that it is no longer as suitable as it was when the IFS said recently in 2009 that PFI is delivering good value for money.
But you know that Tommy, don't you?

I know the Tories had completely different objectives for PFI. They saw it as a way of introducing more private sector elements. Brown simply hid his profligacy and Labour didn't care how much it costed.
That you continue as always to defend the indefensible is no surprise to me Bru your tongue is always up Browns arse.
The bit I can' seem to get across to you and Spassy is it is not sustainable. Eventually as always you run out of other peoples money and leave future generations in hopeless debt. You declare us RWers cruel but are happy to live easily today and allow for your grandkids to pay for you.
If that is Socialism I think Capitalism takes the moral high ground every time.
