The English Brand Miliband "Weird"
23rd May 2014
I've said it more than once - you will not win with that man.
Ed Miliband was left fighting to salvage his public image after a disappointing performance in the local elections which saw members of his own party turn on his leadership.
The Labour leader was accused of being in urgent need of an overhaul after a series of blunders ahead of Thursday's vote, which saw unflattering pictures of him eating a bacon sandwich and him giving a wild underestimate of the cost of a family shop in interview.
In a further blow a poll found nearly half of voters considered Mr Miliband to be "weird" and the most likely leader to have been bullied at school.
The party failed to make the gains it should have done, leaving it far short of the number of seats it was expected to win to put it in a good position for the 2015 General Election.
As the results emerged, Mr Miliband was attacked by members of his own party for running a lacklustre campaign.
Labour MP Graham Stringer told Sky News: "Ed's behind in the personality stakes. We can sharpen up his presentation but we are also behind on economic policy. No party in opposition has evern won when they are behind in the opinion polls on both personality of the leader and economic policy.

Apparently UKIP and Labour are neck in neck in Wales...!
I don't think Ed is weird at all,I think he lacks charisma but he certainly is not 'weird'.
I do think they picked the wrong brother to lead the part though and if this is the public's perception Labour need to think about getting a new leader.

...getting frustrated and personal with Ed won't solve anything ...
And by all accounts, Labour had a terrific night in comparison with both the Tories and the Libs. ::D::

Snap Fluffy!!
David Miliband would have been by far the better choice...or Andy Burnham.

I can't find any mention of Wales anywhere in the news. I thought it was just voting in England today.

I disagree he is a wet lettuce.
He needs to get out of his shell or Labour will lose next year's general election.

He is wet; and a lousy leader. But if today's results follow into next year we'll have a Labour minority or just about a majority with a LibLab alliance very likely.

Yeah it does - sort of like jibber jabber...Joy Division wrote:LibLab has a better ring to it though?
Turning to the topic, I think this shows the true caring nature of the Labour Party. Although I take the piss out of Milliband on here, I'm sure he doesn't read it so no harm done really, but for his own party to make these spiteful remarks publicly I find pretty cruel and nasty. I'd slag off his personality in the way he stabbed his own brother in the back - that was his own doing, but the poor bastard can't help the way he looks and speaks, and to make a public issue of it and call him weird to me is as bad as taking the piss out of David Blunkett because he's blind! Cruel buggers.

Excellent point Tess and very much agree.

Right, well I will just reveal how confused I am too at this point.
Yes we did vote but only for EU where as people in England seem to be voting for council seats also?

Apparently he said the other day that he wants to be the first Jewish prime minister, although he also said he didn't believe in God,
And he's obviously never heard of Benjamin Disraeli....

No he was not the first Jewish Prime Minister. He was born Jewish but his parents converted to Christianism. Disraeli was a practising Anglican. In those days no Jews could enter Parliament!

Also Matti's real error is that he neglects that Jews are an ethnic group, but so was Benjamin also of Jewish ethnicity, but British born, so its true Benjamin was the first

Agreed if Disraeli's ethnicity is the criteria.

Agreed David, hence why Matti looks very sill over his view of David Miliband, thinking he cannot be Jewish if he does not believe in God, he really is such a plonker ha ha

Good call Tess, I agree ..it's poor to slag one off for speech impediments etc, I don't think Ed is a leader either, David would have been very good IMO.

Jewish by birth, same as Miliband, and both not practicing Jews.David wrote:No he was not the first Jewish Prime Minister. He was born Jewish but his parents converted to Christianism. So either both must still be classed as Jewish or both not.

It was me who said he was Jewish dodge you twat!
And I'm surprised how you are so quick to say that Jewish I, an ethnicity in its own right, but don't accept English as being.
When Jewish is mixed up with loads of ethnicities and the main defining thing about them is the religion.

I have never denied also English being an ethnicity, (telling porkies again) what I have showed you it is made up of many different ethnicities also, which you refuse to accept.

Re: The English Brand Miliband "Weird"
There is no fuck up dodge.
Miliband said he was Jewish, wanted to be first Jewish prime minister, and also that he didn't believe in God.
And then gets photographed choking on a bacon sandwich.
I pointed out Disraeli being first Jewish prime minister.
Then David said Disraeli wasn't Jewish because he was Anglican.
I never said Miliband wasn't Jewish.
But as they were both of Jewish parentage and both not practicing Jews, then either they must still be classed as Jewish or both not.

Again behave there is no relevance to him being Jewish and not believing in God unless you thought it did.

I think you're getting confused dodge.
It was David who said DIsraeli wasn't Jewish because he wasn't a practicing Jew.
If so, then by The same logic, Miliband won't be the first Jewish prime minister as he is not a practicing Jew either.
I never said Miliband wasn't Jewish.

What error?
I said Disraeli was Jewish.
I said Miliband was Jewish.
Either Jewish is defined by religious practice or ethnicity.
And since Jewish ethnicity is made up of all different ethnicities, spread all over the world, What is a Jewish ethnicity?

Re: The English Brand Miliband "Weird"
Here is what Matti said:
Apparently he said the other day that he wants to be the first Jewish prime minister, although he also said he didn't believe in God,
Thus implying his atheism would not make him Jewish.
There was no need for the second part of that sentence unless you were implying David Miliband was contradiction being Jewish over being an atheist.
You can make excuses all day long, it is as plain as day

That Irn Bru wants to lick Millibabble arse does rather make a statement about the loony lefties on here.
I don't like Cameron because he is too left wing but if Millibabble were the Tory leader I would give up.
