Accounts published by the Durand Academy in south London show that its executive head, Sir Greg Martin, saw his total pay and pension pot rise by 56 per cent last year.

Sir Greg Martin, executive head of Durand Academy in south London, saw his salary and pension increase by around 56 per cent in 2013 to a total of £229,138 – meaning he was paid more than the Prime Minister. (In comparison, David Cameron earns around £142,500.) It comes just weeks after figures showed that the number of head teachers earning six-figure salaries had soared by more than a quarter in just two years to 900.

Christine Blower, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said: "It is remarkably hard to see how this can possibly be justified in a publicly funded school when those employed in the public sector are still restricted to a one per cent pay rise."

In all, the number of state school heads in England receiving six-figure salaries has now increased by around 29 per cent since 2011/12.

WTF
is that serious?

Even in a top school here head would be lucky to get equivalent of about £90,000.

there are a few centralized heads that may get half what the guy in the OP is getting, but that would be maybe 5-6 in the state.

what do teachers get?

Don't know (I think there's a teacher on here, can't remember who it is,) but not so much compared to the heads.

The bloated public sector.

But for goodness sake, do not bring common sense in to it and attempt to reduce it - they'll all go on strike!
