Barmy UKIP is hell-bent on proving Prime Minister David Cameron right when he called the party “fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists”.

In the latest controversy to engulf the party, a donor has made a series of explosive remarks about women and homosexuals.

Demetri Marchessini - UKIP's sixth largest individual cash donor in 2013 - claimed women should be banned from wearing trousers as they "discourage love-making"; that homosexual couples were incapable of faithfulness; and he also appeared to defend marital rape.

Previously, a UKIP councillor has blamed last year's widespread flooding on gay marriage and leader Nigel Farage insisted working women were “worth less” than men.
