Branded goods(share our tips!)...
Often with food I do enjoy the more expensive brands, but I find that with things like Paracetamol , Ibuprofen and in the past even tabs for the Chris Rea are just as effective as the much more expensive brands Imodium ....
The very same cheaper brand like Boots or Lloyds own are often half the price and contain the very same ingredient ....2mg Loperamide Hydrochloride....
Pass on your tips of what is just as good or better for less folks...
I'm not trying to turn this into Supermarket Sweep you know!!
But lets all share our tips!

.....When you buy your shopping, look for the rollback prices, if there isn't much difference between the cheapest option and the premium one that is on offer....Then go for it!

....Bit like gas/electric prices!
...We got a letter today, that they want to increase our monthly standing order by £20!
....Went onto you switch today, changed it over to a very new company, will be paying what i was paying before, judging by the saving quoted.
When they ring up, you just say how much you are prepared to pay anyway!

That's right Phil...sometimes we do find the cheapest one is not much cheaper than the premium which may be on a special offer...nice one Phil
Energy pricing is a bit of a grey area though, so many chops , changes and rises by all of them!
Unless you fix your tariff, but then that cost extra too:(

If you are buying anything like paracetamol, aspirin etc, ask for them BP, ie paracetamol BP etc. They cost pennies that way, they are the basic drugs, no fancy packaging etc.

Cos I didnt recognise any of the stuff they were selling, and also this woman in front of me got told off because she was trying to pack her shopping into carrier bags at the till and apparently you are meant to just shove it all back in your trolley and go to a table and pack it after you have paid

For what we pay in delivery charges, we would have to pay more in cab fares, or even one of us on a bus, there and back!

You are right, which is why I use Asda on line, but they piss me off, because they always have loads of things that they deliver a substitute. Sainsbury's don't do that half as much, have an hour slot instead of a two hour slot, but they are more expensive, so I rarely use them now.

We haven't had many subs tbf!
Tesco got really bad, and didn't deliver half our shopping, that's why we switched to ASDA, the only thing with them is that they tend to deliver earlier, and outside of the time slot!

I keep seeing all the adverts on tv for them, but it put me off a bit really, maybe I'll give it another try when I am feeling brave ::D::
I usually go to Morrisons because (as you know!) its just down the road but they are getting very expensive to be honest. They do good breakfasts in the café though!!

Not called for.
On the topic of saving money shopping, there is no over-the-counter medication that's worth buying the name brand of, at least not in the U.S. Every store I know of has a generic equivalent that is the exact same chemical formulation but not nearly as expensive, because they don't purchase national advertising campaigns.
Might not seem like much money in one trip, but over your lifetime I'm sure you save a lot of money.

Somethings just aren't worth skipping on.....toilet paper springs to mind along with kitchen roll and laundry detergent and fabric conditioner.....generic over the counter meds, cookies, cereal, juices are all good as well as generic cat litter.
Beans means Heinz for this gal and I always splurge on olive oil, good meat, cheese and bread.

Well, I've heard it said that no bottle of wine is really worth more than $15-$20 -- I guess for some people, there's a huge difference, but I bet for every person like that there are 20 who are just pretending
There are some truths in beverage consumption -- I.E., the best coffee beans come from Indonesia (defy me anyone, I dare you) and the only tequila you should drink is distilled 100 percent from blue agave. Wine though, I think there's a lot of pretension that goes on obfuscating what's quality and what's looked down upon. Then again, part of that might be that I'm from Texas and few take our wines seriously, even though we were the savior of European viniculture!
Re: Branded goods(share our tips!)...
I'm a snob when it comes to some things and I love Branston beans the best, Heinz are nasty though, and shop-branded ones are hard.
I love Lidl mushrooms!! Yes there IS a difference between each stores's mushrooms and as a raw-mushroom connoisseur, I know what I'm talking about.
I've just started trying Lidl's stuff, but like Harvesmom said, I'm a bit with the weird names and not sure what I'm buying.....
Never tried Aldi properly, went there once and was rather put off by the odd layout and warehouse-type feel of the place...not to mention garden soil sold next to milk which was next to tins of prunes which were next to stuffed toys.... I was a bit :asbluras:

Yeah I'm quite the same Eds, I do like a fair bit of my food to be brands, but there are some things as good as others even in that dept...
One thing I don't eat thogh are eggs, well beef too...a chef I picked up in my cab a few years back told me about the value eggs and how the hens are fed scraps of fish rather than corn like some other hens , he said as a result the value eggs smell of fish, I put this too the test while shopping one evening, I sniffed the value eggs and there was something a bit fishy!

Sounds about right. I like their whites, white zinfandel and their bubblies....their reds go into my gluhwein at Xmas otherwise I don't drink them (migraines). They sell a 4 pack here of mini chardonnay bottles so I always pick some up cause its good for cooking. Forgot yes I get the reds too for roast lamb or beef in slow cooler - yum
