Mum-of-two found BEHEADED in home after 'row with her estranged husband'
A mum-of-two Good Samaritan was found beheaded in her home after an apparent row with her estranged husband today.
The headless body of Judith Nibbs, who cared for the elderly and vulnerable, was discovered in her blood-splattered home by police after neighbours became concerned about her welfare.
The 60-year-old’s estranged husband Dempsey Nibbs apparently turned the knife on himself and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
The horrific killing took place near million-pound homes on an estate in the trendy Shoreditch district of London’s East End.
Officers responded to calls about concerns for Mrs Nibbs’ welfare and found her decapitated body at the flat.
Mr Nibbs, 67, was taken to hospital at 5am. Detectives are waiting to quiz him over the death.
Neighbours described Mrs Nibbs as a devoted carer who had worked for Hackney Borough Council for six years providing meals on wheels for the elderly as well as looking after her disabled daughter.
Neighbour Dean Cummings, 28, said: “I’ve known her all my life. She was a nice lady and didn’t have a bad word to say about anybody.
“She was always happy with a smile on her face.
“She had a disabled daughter and an older son who’s about 25.
“She worked for her kids. The daughter’s in a home. Who’s going to bankroll that now?
“It’s just so sad. I’ve never seen her with a partner.”
Mrs Nibbs said on her Facebook page that she was originally from Kirkham, Lancs, and had worked for the council from April 9, 2008 until the present.
She had also signed up to three Liverpool FC supporters’ groups.
Andrew Pemberton, 42, lives in the same low-rise apartment block on the Charles Square Estate.
He said: “I think she worked for Hackney Council meals on wheels.
“I used to see her going to work in a high-visibility vest.
“It’s just terrible on your own doorstep. She has a son and a daughter but didn’t have a partner as far as I knew.”
Forensic experts scoured the ground floor flat in Vince Court, Brunswick Place, looking for the weapon and other clues.
A police spokesman said no one else was wanted in connection with the incident.
One man, who lives next door to the community stalwart and her 29-year-old son, said he was woken at about 4.30am by police shouting.
The 27-year-old local, who wanted only to be known as Cihan, said: “They were banging on my door and jumping on the bins to get over the back garden.
“They just said a ‘serious incident’ was going on. She kept herself to herself and hardly seemed to go out.”
Mrs Nibbs next of kin have been informed but she has not been formally identified.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place early next week.
Mr Nibbs also lived on the estate but is thought to have moved out of the marital home.
A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed officers had initially responded to calls about the council worker’s welfare.
He told the Mirror: “A murder investigation has been launched in Hackney.
“Police were called by paramedics at around 5am to Charles Square estate following concerns for the welfare of a resident.
“Officers attended and found a 60-year-old woman deceased at the location.
“Formal identification is yet to take place. Next of kin have been informed.
“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
“A 67-year-old man was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.”
A Hackney Council spokesman confirmed Mrs Nibbs worked for the authority but would not give any more details.

Whatever is going to happen to the poor daughter now. Absolutely awful, poor woman. The police said 'an incident is going on' so perhaps they were trying to save her.
