Not sure I should be mentioning this on here, but some members got PMs from Dean saying the site may be down for a while.  I suppose if it's down that people will notice anyway, so I'm not giving private details away.  Seems like he's received a serious complaint about content or something; not sure if he meant it was from the forom site people, but it might be something to do with the Turkish government who are having a crackdown on social networking site.  Not sure tbh.  Anyway it's a shame because In a Flap used to be such a good site where people had freedom of speech.

I honestly don't believe HA meant any offense, but I can't speak for him. Seeing his other posts here, however, he doesn't seem to be the type of person who would look down on those with Tourette's or who are mentally impaired.

I contrast that with my perception of those who, through what they say, show themselves (to me) to be racists, xenophobes, homophobes, sexists, religious bigots or even that they disbelieve in the existence of mental disabilities that affect millions of people. They refuse to treat people as individuals, and instead decide they know who someone is on the basis of one characteristic they know about that person, and what that shows me is that they prefer not to tax their brains with too much effort of thinking.

As for the members of IAF, they have their good ones and bad ones just like we do, and of course the judgement is merely my opinion. But I'm a member over there and I have rarely gotten anything resembling fair treatment or the benefit of the doubt, and that especially includes the administrator.

I simply tried to point out that what he was saying and how he was saying it was hurtful and objectionable to people affected by the condition he was so blithely calling others.

The ado where I allowed the abuse was described as an anything gos no rules place - so anything went and there were no rules until I got so bloody uncomfortable I had to introduce them at which point it went down the toilet.

However the important thing is it was described as anything goes no rules.

Newsfix is not described as anything goes no rules and ben has a multitude of times stepped in to make it clear there will be standards in here and a large group of people have claimed they do not need to be told their are standards because their own personal standards are so high anyway.

I have simply asked that those advertised standards be used - and got a shit load of abuse for it.

It was the DUALITY of Sphinx's standards that was the problem.

The only duality of standards I have seen in THIS thread aint from sphinx....IF sphinx entertained dual standards times past, AND even IF she is now holding dual standards by complaining about this...THAT DOES NOT lessen the culpability of the progressive group in exhibiting the same duality here and now....THAT is the argument of the playground...WAHHHHH...she's just as bad.

The progressives like to claim the moral high ground, and pour disdain and scorn on all who oppose their vision of a grey amorphous mediocracy, yet are guilty of the same...but dont like being caught out...
