Sixth Texas Democrat in DC tests positive for COVID, and boycott isn’t going quite as planned

WASHINGTON – With COVID-19 hitting more than 10% of the Texas Democrats who fled Austin to stymie a GOP elections bill, the runaways spent Monday strategizing ways to prod Congress for new voting rights protections without being able to lobby in person.

Statistically this shouldn't happen. 10% of the vaccinated people on a plane shouldn't catch covid.

Were they really vaccinated?

Maybe they had an orgy and were swapping bodily fluids?

In any event, the wanted politicians on the run met with the VP a few days ago. If they can give it to each other, they can give it to her, and she could give it to our Crazy Uncle Joe.

I'm also not a big fan of legislators hiding. I think it's time to change the Texas Constitution to allow for 50% to be the threshold for a quorum, like it is in the US Congress.

Well, if they haven't been vaccinated, and have contracted the virus, they have a legitimate reason for staying away from the Texas statehouse. Are the Texas Rangers about pulling people out of their sickbeds?

This is the natural consequence of Governor Abbott, who opposes measures to protect Texans from Covid-19. RW'ers have only themselves to blame...it's the consequence of following Trump's message of denial.

WASHINGTON – The Texas Democrats who fled Austin have spent the last eight nights at a hotel a half-mile from the White House, and they’re growing a bit impatient for an invitation to meet with President Joe Biden.

“We know the president is watching and we’re waiting for him to call,” said state Rep. Ina Minjarez, D-San Antonio. “We are willing and ready to meet with him whenever he would like that.”

But that possibility grew even more remote Tuesday after a revelation, first reported by Axios, that aides to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Kamala Harris have tested positive for COVID-19 since their bosses met with the runaway legislators, six of whom had likewise tested positive since Friday.

The Pelosi staffer ushered the Texans around the Capitol last week, Axios reported.

Everyone stricken so far – the six lawmakers and the aides to Pelosi and Harris – was fully vaccinated. That should confer protection against any serious illness, and mute the potential for contagion.

“We’re still working diligently through the COVID protocols that we’ve already set in place,” said state Rep. Ron Reynolds, referring to daily tests for lawmakers and aides since Saturday, when the first three tested positive.

But the White House takes the health of the 78-year-old president very seriously.

Rapid tests are mandatory for journalists who enter the Oval Office or other meeting rooms with him or Harris. Until June 7, testing was required for anyone entering the White House complex, whether they might be in proximity to the president or not.

iN THE uk latest figures quoted by chief scientific advisor Patrick Vallance are 40% of hospitalisations in the UK are people who have been vaccinated.
But we are told previously that the vaccines are up to 93% effective in stopping death or serious illness...I am confused.

It's all quite strange.

They did ride in a plane, without masks for a over 2 hours. But I still would have thought the vaccine would work better than that.

Maybe a lot of us vaccinated folks are actually catching it again ad don't know it, because we feel fine and aren't getting tested?

Airplanes are a hotbed for transmitting germs about...and is there any proof they were all double jabbed?

If they were, and they were not social distanced (hard on a flight) or wearing masks, it does show that, like every expert has said from the outset...it's still possible to catch and spread the virus, but your chances of not getting seriously ill or dying from it are much improved.

Here they are leaving Texas, ignoring CDC guidelines. Hypocrites, all of them.

Texas, Florida and Arizona are the source of these issues. Whereas California, Massachusetts and New York are overwhelmed with vaccines, southern politicians hide vaccines and make them impossible to get.

Wherever they caught and spread it, they were certainly not practising social distancing and mask wearing.
That, and the failure to wash hands frequently, are three of the main reasons this virus has spread so much.

The mask mandates are long gone except on transportation.

These clowns are the same people that screamed the governor was going to kill people by dropping the mask mandate back in March. They wanted him to follow CDC guidelines.

Of course THEY didn't follow CDC guidelines, but those are directed at their serfs, not them..
